  I haven't had this issue, but when I got mine inserted my doc said that if DH could feel the strings to come back and she could adjust them more, so they were more wrapped I guess. So I would suggest perhaps a follow up visit. I would tend to agree that you don't want to cut them shorter and risk poking (ouch).

  Yup, that can be adjusted. My OB cut them and wrapped it around my cervix and DH says he can't feel it at all. My OB told me not to check for it because he's had patients pull them out. It's worth a phone call.

  I have Mirena and my husband said the saw thing. I asked the OB about it at my 6w checkup because I was afraid it was falling out or something. She said it was just the strings and she could clip them if I wanted but she cautioned against clipping them too short (I think it makes it harder to find and remove it later). She did say the strings will soften too. He hasn't mentioned it lately so maybe that has happened for me.
