At night and for most long naps my LO sleeps next to our bed in his RNP. During the day he loves to sleep on his stomach on my chest--is this a SIDS risk?? From what I've read sleeping on their stomach is a problem in cribs, pack n' plays, etc.
God this is going to sound dumb.. is the risk of SIDS only when there is a risk of suffocation or can a baby just literally stop breathing out of no where?
@Krilolo from what I understand they just stop breathing. My friend in high school had a little boy who was 5 months old and he had nothing in his crib with him and he was only wearing a onsie and a pair of socks......he passed away after his middle of the night feeding. So based off that I believe they can just stop and pass away.

While I already knew this, your post just guaranteed that I won't be sleeping at all tonight...
Sorry for kind of thread jacking but.. What temp do you ladies keep your room or LO's room at? Easton really seems to like to be warm and cozy so I had been keeping it at 72-ish degrees but now after reading that SIDS can be caused by heat, I'm wondering if I should set it cooler?
My LO takes naps in her bassinet on her belly. But only in the daytime when I'm awake. I don't hover over her all the time but check every few minutes while I clean or cook.
This is what I do now too. My LO was getting a flat spot on his head so now we put him on his stomach for everything except his nighttime sleep.
My ped said 68-72 degrees we keep ours at 72 but live in a basement apartment and have a fan at night in the room which is suppose to also help with SIDS
I've slept with LO on my chest all night bc of his reflux. My doctor said it was probably ok if I'm a light sleeper and not drinking.
My bed is also on the floor no box spring with carpet so not a big risk if he fell off. I just pumped up the heater and slept with a sweater so there was no blanket.

WE keep our house at 63 during the night and I still feel that's too warm. ..but Anya is in a fleece swaddle blanket.
I confess I let her sleep on me for an hour or two at night when nothing else works to get her back to sleep..that always does.
