I did not, but three of my girlfriends have, and I have been there to visit one of them. It's awesome. One of my friends hated her nurses, but I really think that is just personal preferance, or maybe bad luck. The other two were extremely happy with their experience.

Same thing. Two of my friends have delivered there and both were very pleased.
I had Mason in Burnsville at Fairview and loved it. Which isn't much help
I'd love to go to Burnsville Fairview, as we live right on the border of B'Ville and Savage, but my doc doesn't practice there -- so it is either FVSD or Abbott!
Sorry I'm not much help. Did you enjoy your experience at fvsd? I say if you did, stick with it. If it was just okay then move over to Abbott. The birthing center in Monticello (5-10 min from home) was not open when Will was born due to issues going on at the hospital. Now it's under new ownership and is open this time around. But I had an awesome experience at Buffalo (20 min from home). It's close enough that I am still sticking with Buffalo this time around. I know the hospital, the nurses were wonderful and I am excited t have the next LO there!

Honestly, the only real complaint I had was not even MY complaint, it was that there were such bad sleeping facilities for DH... and I know at the MBC, they have much nicer sofas that convert into bed-like things. So we'll see.
Yeah, DH had the same complaint. It sucks a little more for you because a c-section leaves you in the hospital a little longer. I figured DS can handle it next time around if I can handle labor

Oh, I know... and he'll suck it up and be fine wherever we go, I just thought that if we KNEW we were staring down a 3-4 day hospital stay, maybe go somewhere that we'd BOTH be more comfortable.

Will he stay with you every night or will he be home with J? My H did stay the night with me for both kids, but I suspect if my stay had been longer he would have stayed at home with big brother for at least part of it. I recall him being essentially useless at the hospital the second time anyhow. Oh well.

MBC sounds very cool. Have you toured yet?
Haven't toured yet, but will before we make the decision. J will probably go with my parents, and DH will be with me... whether he'll stay the whole time or not is TBD... I don't know how I feel about it yet. With #1, I was scared, I"d never even been in a hospital before, and I needed him by my side. I am less scared this time, but I also want him there just in case something were to happen with the baby or me. So we'll see. I'm not opposed to him going home at night to get some sleep but if he WANTS to stay,I"d like him to be comfortable.
The other twist- two of my best friends are Drs (a neonatologist and peds anesthesiologist), and they both work for the U so they often practice at FVSD... they helped me out a lot before and during James, and I like knowing I have them on speed dial. ;-) That said, they of course think the care at Abbott is also phenomenal, it's just that I wouldn't be able to literally call them for help. :-)
@jss1002 if you were really scared the first time, it seems like it would help to go to the same facility again. That way you know what to expect, not to mention having your dr friends a call away. Personally going to a new hospital would make me more nervous than staying at the same one.

Well, you should have delivered at the U then! Finest terrible hospital food the metro has to offer. But Pizza Luce delivers there, so it's all good.

THat's how I felt until the last couple of days, and now am manically bouncing between famished and nauseated...not sure what is on the agenda for dinner tonight.
Where did you live in SLP? I lived in an apartment right off of Lake Calhoun (by that Whole Foods) For like 6 years! We have Pizza Luce at work sometimes in meetings which is a nice treat.:-)

at the colorful apartments on the corner of Louisiana and 7th (by park tavern) and then owned a house behind the knollwood mall. Ah the good ol' single living days...

Ha! Mine too...I know right where those apts are! We used to bowl at Park Tavern every Tuesday night back when we were just dating. :-) I went from West Calhoun to 48th and Chicago district (RIGHT by Pepitos), and lived there for the next 10... I miss Mpls, although I do enjoy the new construction and large closets in the 'burbs!
I used to live a couple blocks from Lake of the Isles (5 blocks from Josh Hartnett, but who's counting? I went to college for 2 years in Duluth and ate at Pizza Luce a lot then! Yum!

I know exactly where his old house is -- before he was a big deal we had some friends in common. He would never in a thousand years know who I was, but we were at some of the same gatherings for a while (and then both shopped at the Lunds on Lake and Hen)... I wonder what's happened to him -- he hasn't been in anything for a long time!

I think he's going to be in a new show on showtime or something! We also had a couple friends in common. Maybe our friends are friends!

Maybe! My friends went to Washburn with his then-girlfriend, Ellen.
