Is everyone STTN?

I was just reading through a bunch of threads and see a lot of babies seem to be STTN now! Congrats, ladies!

I had my lo sleep trained for about one week in the USA. We had to go and stay with my mom and that was out the window. Curious to hear about your success stories and methods.

My lo is jet lagged. We are going on 5 days now. DH wants to sleep train again. I'm not sure if it's too soon. Thoughts ?

  • Ah @cricket81 I'm sorry to hear it but happy I'm not alone !
  • Every once in a while N will STTN but we are still waking once a night :) I would wait until the jet lag is over before sleep training though :) it won't be successful if he has his days and nights mixed up.
  • Nope. She still gets up at least once.

My LO is currently STTN I say currently because he has his ups and downs with teething and gas. I agree with @kari5186 on making a daytime schedule and sticking to it. If he gets his morning and afternoon naps and nurses enough through the day he has a much better chance of STTN. Some changes we made are putting up soft bumpers because LO was waking us up with his head up against the rails. I also starting giving him a bottle at bedtime because he seemed to dose off so quickly nursing and wasn't eating enough to last through the night. Instead of letting him nurse to sleep he drinks his bottle while I sing to him and rock then I kiss him and put him down awake. Putting my LO down awake but sleepy is key. If I sneak him in bed after I get him to sleep he often wakes up very upset. All babies are so different but I hope once you get her on a set routine you both get some good sleep!

  • Nope! But I have her down to just waking up at 3am and 7am so I'm happy with that for now.

  • Lily still gets up at least once during the night.  Honestly, I'm not worrying about it.  She seems to do just about everything when she is ready and fights hard when she isn't.  I'm going to just let her decide that one as once doesn't bug me.

  • We had a period where she did but lately she wakes up around 3 to eat.

  • Ha! And right now you could ask me that about either of my kids and I'd laugh.

  • Glad to hear that you're doing well! I know some people were wondering about you awhile back.

N is STTN and we used the sleepeasy solution book. They recommend doing naps and nighttime training at the same time. Good luck!

  • After some modified ferberizing, she is waking up once to eat and that's it. I feel like 5 days is a long time for a baby to be jet lagged. I thought they usually get over it a lot faster than adults. After the rough time you've had I would go for it.

  • He may have slept through the night once ever but I can't be sure. I'm so sleep deprived that I lose count of how often we wake up.

DS1 didn't sleep through the night for the first time until he was 2. I'm just happy whenever I get a 3 hour stretch.

I no help with the sleep training as we have never tried it. Just not my thing.
  • Nope, one wake up here.
  • We're definitely up once a night, twice on a bad night. Thankfully he eats fast :)

  • Ha.  Hi.  No.

Ferber's method is working well for us--we had a couple of nights when LO slept 7:30 to 4:30 or so, but the past two nights we've had one earlier waking (I popped her pacifier in at the first checkin and she went back to sleep).  I'm hoping if we stick with it things will continue to improve.  At least we went from hourly wakings and sleeping in our bed to only one or two night wakings and sleeping in her crib next to our bed!

  • One wake up to eat here, around 12-1am, then blessed sleep until 5 or 6. He might wake up once more but fusses and falls asleep in two minutes. We did CIO with check ins. Haven't tried to night wean to stop the one feeding.

We missed you around here @GalLaura !

  • Depends on the night. And how much I'd like to be awake the next day. He has an uncanny ability to know when more rest before work would be useful and then proceeds to wake up more. ;) usually he wakes up once, but sometimes two or three times.

  • I don't want to say it out loud, but about a week after we fully night weaned he started STTN and we haven't looked back

  • We are NOT sleeping through the night. I don't think this kid ever will.
  • We consider it a good night if she only wakes up once. She normally wakes twice. She's really tiny, in the 5th percentile, so she eats every time. I'm pretty used to it, and she always goes right back to sleep. I won't sleep train her.

  • No. Usually two wake ups a night. He's been so exhausted from teething that lately he's only having one wake up fairly early in the night and then sleeps from 11-7:30ish. I'll take it, but it's not going to last.
