how often do you wash covers??

So if using prefolds and covers, how often do you have to wash the covers? Do they get wet when the prefold gets wet? And what about pocket diapers? I'm assuming you have to wash the whole thing after using once, correct? TIA! I have developed a fascination with cloth diapers this week. LOL

I wash diapers every other day. Pockets get put in the dirty laundry after each use- yes the whole thing. Covers I wipe each time after pee and poo. If poo gets on them I change them. Dd usually gets poo on them so I only have ever used a cover through 3 changes.

Yes pockets need to be washed after every use.

Covers that have a wipeable inside (so not line with fleece or another cloth material) I use for up to a day or until they get poo on them. After a day of use I throw them in the wash, even if they aren't visibly soiled. Covers with fleece lining (AppleCheeks, SoftBums, Grovia AI2) only get used more than once if I know I changed soon enough that the fleece didn't get pee on it.

I wash EOD. Once in a blue moon I might go three days, but I'm scared of mold or other laundry issues so no longer than that.

If we're using covers, I swap between two all day (unless he gets poop on one). We have a shelf over his changing table, and I hang the used one on a peg to dry. For the covers that get used ON, they go immediately into the wet bag. They just smell too bad to reuse without washing first.

My toddler wears a prefold and cover at night, and I wash the cover after one use. For my newborn, I alternate between two covers and get a new one out every time there's poop on the cover. So I probably go through 4 or 5 a day for him, and wash every 2-3 days.

If I use the cover for during the day, I will alternate between 2 and then toss it at the end of the day. If I use a cover at night, I put it in the pail right away. Pretty similar to everyone else.

I wash every 2-3 days. I use 2 covers per day and alternate between them at each change. This gives them a chance to dry out. Obviously if poop gets on the cover I rinse it and toss it in the wet bag then. Otherwise at the end of the day I put them in the wet bag to be washed and start fresh with 2 new covers the next day.

We use double-stuffed pockets at night. When I change LO in the MOTN or early morning I put a fresh pocket on her and toss the used one in the wet bag.

I have 8 covers and 7 pockets that I'm rotating through each day. I only use each cover once per day (or less) as a general rule. 1/2 of my covers are solids and 1/2 are patterns, so I try to grab one group each weekend to wash, in addition to washing them whenever they get pooped on. I just do the group wash to catch any that miss getting pooped on for too long. Obviously, the pockets get washed after every use when used as a pocket. When I use the pockets as covers over my prefolds, I treat them as lined covers and if the lining isn't wet I reuse it.
