hard time managing blood sugar

I'm going to ask my doctor about this, but just was curious if anyone else has had this issue.

I'll eat breakfast but before its even lunch time I already feel like my sugar is crashing and way faster than normal, been eatting a banana between meals & that seems to help. But I don't remember this happening with my other 2 pregnancies when I was eatting normally at every meal.

-38 weeks & 2 days-

Re: hard time managing blood sugar

  • I always struggle with low blood sugar but pregnancy really sets it off. I basically HAVE to eat every 2 hrs or I will crash- it has happened with GD and without. I agree, focus on protein and avoid any processed foods or sweet fruits- those will send your sugar up fast and then crash hard.

  • I had/have HG with this pregnancy. Things have evened out quite a bit recently BUT before I had to always make sure that my meals were protein rich. If I had any sugar- even fruit- I would have to follow it with protein. I also had to always have snacks with me and constantly. It helped keep me from getting too dizzy.

Definitely talk to your doctor but in the meantime my suggestion would be snack a ton with healthy protein rich foods. Good luck!
  • Thanks ladies hopefully doc says everything is fine. And def will be eatting more protein rich foods in the meantime! When ever I feel my sugar start to crash
