Baby water

Jasmine has always been formula fed and I always bought that silly baby water because I just felt bad giving her regular bottled water. It was more of a personal preference. But now at almost 10 months I think she can have regular water right?? Not tap because it taste funny to me where I live so I always buy bottled water. Am I the only crazy girl still buying baby water?

Probably has lots of iron. That is how the well is here in MIL's house. When our water well is done and if it has a lot of iron I am going to try and get a filtration system put in, because that stains everything yellow.

@nikki I did not know that. I thought about a brita too. Would save me lots of money.

  • I officially feel silly :\"> . But no one stopped me so I just kept buying it. I will not buy any more baby water!
  • I thought the difference between baby water and regular water was flouride?

  • Tap water. Good for his teeth cuz it's fluoridated! Bottled if we are out and about but just normal bottled water. What is "baby water", never heard of it??

It's bottled water that companies put a "baby water" label on and sell for more money.

  • It's always reminded me of the Motts 50% less sugar toddler apple juice that is half juice and half water.

  • I just used the water from the fridge, it's filtered so I figure it's fine.  Every now and then I give her straight from the tap for a bottle because I'm not sure if the fridge filters out floride and she should be getting that in the water she drinks, that's why people by the "baby water".

Yes it basically is bottled water that says it's for baby and it has added fluoride but it's not that expensive it's always on sale at BRU for 99cents a gallon. But it does add up at the end of the day.
  • I thought babies weren't suppose to have flouride or only is very small doses?

Trace amounts from water is okay. Anything extra.. like say toothpaste, is not needed right now.

  • My husband has sididdy taste buds so he gives Brayden Evian. I guess my taste buds aren't as sophisticated because I'll drink almost any bottles water & give it to Brayden.

Oh, so you mean like all the variations of Excedrin... that have the exact same ingredients as plain ol Excedrin?  ;-)  (Read the labels folks... Excedrin Migraine is just... Excedrin).

  • We buy the baby water because we have well water so no fluoride in the tap water.

  • Also, you are in Houston, right?  FWIW, I grew up on tap water in Houston straight out of the tap, unfiltered.  I do not have any weird 3rd arms growing on me and I can do math. ;)

lol I will not drink it. Maybe my tastebuds are off but the taste of it is very weird to me. I myself drink bottled water. But I am going to take the Brita advise and save me some money.

We have well water too. I'm not concerned about the lack of fluoride. DS goes to daycare or the ILs every week day, so he gets tap water then.

  • The smell of Dreft makes me want to vomit...Its SO strong. I have no idea how something with that much perfume in it is supposed to be "better" for your babies skin.

I think the baby water is a money making ploy...I'm sure your daughter is just fine drinking tap, or Brita water. Treat yo self with the money you're going to save!

Why are some against giving fluoride? I don't have much knowledge on this topic. I will admit, I'm the sucker buying baby water and Dreft! And I'm totally fine with it lol

    I buy dreft too :\">
  • I was just at Walgreens and of course noticed the "nursery water" for the first time. Snort.  What a rip.  Mostly I can't believe you guys aren't annoyed having to lug big jugs of water to your car and into the house and storing it, etc!

Can't stand any sort of scented laundry deterg; I've been using arm and hammer or ALL unscented / dye-free since 2000!

  • I only started giving him water at 6 months and I just fill his cup from the Brita.
  • Since I have stopped nursing, we just use regular old tap water here as well.  Our dental hygienistsaid it is better to use tap water because of the flouride and it has more regular tests on it at the treatment plant than bottled water.
  • I just give the filtered water that we drink. She doesn't even drink much, but I think it's fine.

I didn't know there was "baby water" #momfail. LO gets water from our filtered fridge system or bottled water if we are out.

  • Tap water here. If we had funky water, we would use our Britta.
