The Dangers of Cooked Mahi Mahi, Tuna, and Other White Fish...

I have unfortunately experienced scombroid toxicity. It took 7 doctors to diagnose it after I suffered for weeks and had a miscarriage. Anyways I wanted to share this information as it could save you from going through this disaster! We have all been warned about uncooked fish and tuna, but I was never warned about cooked mahi mahi or other cooked "white fish" as my allergist told me. The symptoms for me at first were a rash. I took benadryl and used copious amounts of skin ointment to rid myself of the rash and when it got worse I went to the ER as my doctor was out of town. The ER doctor told me I had dermatitis and prescribed a skin ointment and steroids. Doctors are not familiar with scombroid toxicity at all. I won't bore you with the details, but I took my prescribed medicine and hoped for the best, but as soon as I finished my steroids the scombroid toxicity went into full force and I was hospitalized near death. My extremities had turned purple and my windpipe was closing off rapidly. My face was so swollen that my eyelids swelled over my eyes making it hard to see, and my body swelled so badly, I remember I could not feel anything before becoming unconscious. This all happened very quickly.The doctors did all that they could, and they saved my life but had no idea what happened. I found out I was pregnant and miscarried through this ordeal. I was referred to specialist after specialist to find out the mystery behind this. I had to continue treatment for weeks to be totally cured; 7 doctors, two states, two countries, and tens of thousands of dollars. There's still not a lot of information online about scombroid toxicity, and when I recently had surgery and told them about my medical history the anesthesiologist, nurses, and doctor had me tell them about it in detail bc they had never heard of it before! Even when researching it online I can see misinformation about it, and there are a few fish labeled as potential carriers, but then it lists "and related fish", so it's hard to tell which fish could be the carrier. With this information, maybe you will pass on the mahi mahi tacos, and other white fish dishes just in case. As for me, I will never eat any of those fish again.

I'm totally confused. I don't know if you are posting a lot of nonsense just for attention or you just don't have a life and have nothing better to do with your spare time but scare soon to be mothers. In your previous thread "Free Diving While Pregnant" (or something to that nature) you informed us that you were pregnant and how you were working with your OB dr as far as your future photo shoots. In this thread you make it sound like you found out you were pregnant during this whole ordeal that sounds likes went on for several months (due to seeing 7 different doctors, 2 states and 2 countries) and miscarried. Now...if you miscarried I am so sorry for your loss. But if you are just posting these ridiculous threads for attention you really need to seek some professional help! Find something better to do with your time.

GTFO you troll. You last posted in your free diving thread yesterday so yesterday you were still pregnant. And then later in the same day, you miscarried and already found your way back to the good ole bump to share your big story about the fish? I think not.

BTW - you're very talented to be able to post on the bump while unconscious. Just sayin.

Three posts and you have covered: free diving and modeling while pregnant, how do people go to work, a teacher almost being beaten to death by a high school student, another teacher almost dying of swine flu thanks to students dumped on her, and barely surviving a incredibly rare and unheard of disease. I am sure I am missing something.

What is next? Getting impregnated by a shark while free diving and giving birth to the first half shark / half human, only to learn that it is the cure for the flu?

Very sorry for your loss and what you went through, but I don't get what the point of this post is. The likelihood of this EVER happening to anyone else is almost non-existent. You can't live in a bubble waiting for all of the "what ifs" to happen, especially with things so incredibly unlikely.
