For the first time ever, when I picked DD up from her EI group on Monday, she waved to me, without any physical prompting. This is huge because we have been working on waving for over a year now!
My son was a huge help this morning! I needed to go shovel my car out in case we needed it and he offered to watch the baby monitor for me and he came got me when the baby woke up
I feel like i may have shared this already but dd is doing well using my turn with peers when she wants something or someone takes something out of her hands. before shed just rip things out of your hands and when a kid took something she had she either completely ignored it or had a meltdown.
I was looking for a new brush I bought to detangle the girls' hair, and I was pretty annoyed that I couldn't find it. A couple of days later, DD1 found it underneath their dresser and brought it to me, complete with "guess the hand behind my back" game to present it to me. She was so happy to have helped, and I was impressed at her helpfulness.
She gets downright irked with me now when I pick out her clothes or suggest something else to wear. No more passivity there!
ETA: I've also started this thing where instead of reading to them at night, I make up a story. They each get to pick one thing that they want me to incorporate into the story. They LOVE this, and it really gets DD1 away from wanting one book over and over -- although I have had to sometimes impose the rules of no dragons and no My Little Pony characters to get them to branch out. DD1 in particular is really excited about it, and always wants me to do another one, and I'm hoping I can built on this for creativity (there's a Once Upon a Time card game that follows a similar concept) and maybe even getting her to create her own stories at some point.
I was feeling horrible yesterday morning, irregular contractions and back pain. DD1 had another snow day, so she was home. I told the girls I didn't feel well, so DD1 took DD2 up to her room and read her books for a while so I could rest. She's getting to be such a good helper these days

Maybe you'll have another brag really soon.
I hope so, Auntie! My reinforcements come this weekend, so I just need to make it through the next two days.
During night time books with increased rigidity and steming tonight, DD said "you're.....you're my best friend" and gave me a little hug! OMG, talk about tears - out of no where!
Here's my brag: it was DS' turn to be "star of the day" which means he gets to bring something for show and tell. For a kid who doesn't play with toys and has limited interests, this has been tricky throughout the year, but I enjoy his thought process. He first brought his stuffed Kitty, and he came home reporting that "all the girls loved it, but the boys did not." The next month he wanted to bring Kitty again, but I talked him into a Slinky. He was upset because "the girls won't like it."
This morning I tried to let him make his own decision. He came out with a football and a snow globe- he couldn't decide which because "the boys would like the football but his teacher would like the snow globe." He finally decided to bring one of his favorite Bad Kitty books- he chose "Bad Kitty Takes a Bath" because in the other Bad Kitty books Kitty was being mean to humans.
I just love watching his brain work- he really is a good kid at heart, and I'm always happy to hear him thinking about how others would react, and thinking about the plots and details of the books we read.
