Snow dayyyy!

The babe and I get a day in our jammies together! I will regret it in June (because we are now up to 4, which is a whole other week of daycare to pay for then...blah), but my job has been so borderline insane lately, I'm just grateful for the mid-week break.

Re: Snow dayyyy!

  • Glad for you Dublin, but I wish you had kept the snow. I'm tired of it. And I had to get out of my nice warm bed and get to the tire place first thing this morning, so I'm really not feeling the love for all this sloppy white stuff.

  • I'm game! How is Rory today?

  • He's actually still sleeping! He went to bed at 6:30 too! I heard him coughing/sneezing throughout the night though. Poor guy. :-(

  • @DC2London I would love to bake cookies, but I can't. :-( Because then I would eat all the cookies!

  • Baking is a favorite of mine. We made Christmas cookies over the holiday break. They didn't last long lol. Banana bread is also a hit. Now I want to bake and eat all the foods.

  • We have an ice day! Our second day off this week and a delay yesterday! Baking sounds so good right now! Going to look in the pantry and see what we can bake! Yum!

I'm the odd ball - I'm about ready to off myself from being inside with DD so much lately. I went out yesterday (across the street), and I could barely push her stroller through the frozen slush. I'm bad at meal planning, so when I can't just pop out to the store, we wind up having soup.

Not to mention the stuff coming Sunday may cancel a night away that DH and I have planned. A nj refundable one. Arrrgghhh
No I don't like being cooped up either. I've been home three days in a row with DS being sick. I'm looking forward to work tomorrow.

I hope your night away doesn't get cancelled!

  • @peanutr1, I was just about to say the same thing. We are going stir crazy from being inside so much. I absolutely hate when we are inside all day because DD gets so fussy and bored. We have a small house, she has tons of toys but couldn't care less about any of them, and I end up counting down the minutes till nap time or bedtime. Don't get me wrong, I'm a homebody and would love a snow day at home by myself, but add an active 1-year-old to the mix, and not so much.

  • I have a self-declared snow/ice day. No way I'm driving in this mess with DD, so I brought work home with me to do while DD naps, and I'll only have to take a half day on vacation time.

And I'll be baking as well: star-shaped sugar cookies for DD's space-themed party this weekend!

  • Man. Cinnamon rolls sound amaze balls right now. We did not adequately enough prepare for this storm, as I did not buy any of those to make while we were stuck inside.

I also actually do not like being stuck at home. It has been too cold here, even without snowing, to take DS anywhere. I am counting down the days to February vacation. I already have a hair appointment! I'm going to go to lunch with my friends! I am going shopping! Quick!! What else can I do without my kid?!

lol I thought about it! Or convincing you to take a personal day the week after your vaca and meeting up! But that puts me about 1 hour away from DS' daycare. Is it weird that I feel funny about being that far away from him? I feel like with my luck it would be the one day they call and say he vomited lol.

  • We have a boy after my own heart! I have held off giving DS grapes because the skins sort of made me a little nervous. Today he tried them....and LOVES them. He can't get them in fast enough. My kid loving grapes can't be a coincidence lol.

  • I'm going to be the Debbie Downer of the thread today. I'm at home, but because I have kidney stones. It's also my wedding anniversary. Wah!

This is my third time having them, and surprisingly it's not as big of a deal as it was in the past. However, I will participate in this thread alllllll day!

  • Oh no, @tarheelmama202! I'm so sorry to hear that. Those are the worst. I've never had them, but my aunt gets them like some people get sore throats. They give her a terrible time. I hope you pass them easily and quickly! But I am secretly glad that you're here! Well, not so secretly lol.  Second nap of the day is around 2. There will be merlot lol.

  • I too am home self declared. Almost all the roads on the way to work have trees down, and my parents have no electricity. I am really aggravated though, my dryer just died. But, I still have party leftovers, so I have been eating all day.
  • Boo.  My DH tried to self declare a snow day, which is normally would not do because he almost always has too much going on at work.  They were like, there is a repair person here you need to supervise, so he took the bus in.  Boo!!

Three cheers for Merlot! I'm sort of like your aunt; I get them a lot. They run in my family. I'm glad to be here, though!

Mostly it's because DH and I are trying to exercise together a few times a week and wine makes me unmotivated lol.

Snow day here too, this is snow day number 2, and we have another tomorrow. I am seriously confused by the one tomorrow, no more snow, just cold. I told my kids and my son Grant was way sad, he said he is sick of missing school! I am glad he likes school so much, I think he is like me, being at home too much is the worst.  I am feeling cabin fever to the extreme so we are venturing out in a bit to chic fil a.

Grant is a boy after my own heart!

  • It always amazes me that some schools call off the day before. That never happens here. A blizzard could be predicted, with anticipated Yetti sightings. My phone's not ringing until 5:15 a.m. the day of, at the earliest lol.
