Biggest Loser anyone?

Did anyone see the finale last night? Anyone notice they only showed Dolvet's less than thrilled expression during Rachel's weigh in? After watching for so long, I know there is no way Bob & Jillian could keep their expressions nice.

I know the contestants go home for a bit before the finale, but I think they need to keep the contestants under some sort of supervision so loss continues with healthy (relatively) habits, because there is no way that girl lost 45lbs in such a short time in a healthy manner.

Re: Biggest Loser anyone?

  • Amen. I thought the same thing. There is no way in hell that chick got that thin with a healthy diet and exercise.

  • I just feel terrible for her. All the bloggers out there are telling her to eat a sandwich or a bowl of ice cream. That isn't helping either. There is no need to thin shame someone (obviously no fat shaming too), but she really didn't look healthy.

I really wonder if they will do something to change that next year - like have check-ins with the trainers or something.

  • Yah, she needs an extra 10-15lbs and she will look great. It is possible that he network discussed this being an issue and prepped their representatives (ie the trainers) to react properly- though I think their reactions would have been the same once they saw the number.

Anyway, to lose 155 lb and overshoot by 10.... I kind of feel bad for her. You're fat.......Ohhh you're too thin. I think when she got down to the lower weight and was still going balls to the wall on exercise, it went too far.

Bla bla bla, adding 10 lb would be better for her. I mean, she looks like all the actresses we drool over. It's a little bit of a double standard.

This is what I was trying to say. It is absolutely a double standard.

  • @flamingemu I didn't see your comment above mine - yes, I agree.

It's sad that people are making comments that the network needs to take away her win.  Come on, jerks.  She did a wonderful job.

She hasn't had the weight off in years, and now she's active and really focused on this new lifestyle.  She will probably work out her balance.  Give her a few months, FFS.

  • @tinyhumantoe I totally agree. Most of the past contestants have spoken out about the extremes they go to leading up to the final weigh in and how much they gain back right away due to rehydrating their bodies. I assume she will gain back at least 10 lbs pretty immediately and then would we all say the same thing?

She is pretty petite. 115 would be totally acceptable to most people. I hope she finds a good balance.

  • Ha ha, thanks @danabsd - Mine thread has pictures ;)

Wiki says she's 5'4", so she could easily use 10 to 15 lbs., but like I said before, I feel bad for her - it's very "damned if you, damned if you don't" I'm happy for her and she obviously put in a ton a work in getting the weight off.

It makes me frustrated though, because I think that this show, and the extreme weight loss it has it's contestants go through just perpetuates the fact that America is a country of extremes, you're either morbidly obese, or your way too thin and people are judging you for having an eating disorder. I feel like NOTHING in this country can be done moderately....and it makes me sad :(

    Noted. I lose. haha.

So much is extremes here. That is the biggest downfall of the show and has been for years. At the same time, it is doing some good. One of the contestant's young daughter lost 30 lbs and the husband lost 50. That family will be healthier because of the show for the long haul.

That is good, I don't watch the show to know about those things...

  • Perhaps now they should rethink the going home part. Just have the show end on the Ranch and offer like a year support at home for the top 3 with a local dietitian and trainer but the money part is over.

  • She is on Access Hollywood right now and Holly asked her about the thinness. She said her inner athlete came out and she wants to find the balance in a healthy lifestyle. Then a bunch of standard bs blah blah, whatever.

She is adorable and I hope she learns the balance.
