Embarrassing but I'm Desperate

Ok ladies so as weird as it is to ask this for me what do I do about these sore nipples. I was looking yesterday and it looks like they are chapped. And at random times during the day are so irritated they are hard as rocks. Any suggestions? They are so irritated DH brushed them tonight going in for a hug and I thought I was going to die.

  • get some nipple cream in the baby isle, or use coconut oil.
  • You could try lanolin or a natural nipple cream for breastfeeding. I'm sorry you're in pain - I'm having flashbacks of early nursing pain when a shower was unbearable!
  • Earth Mama Angel Baby has a really good nipple cream! I use it daily because mine feel really dry lately. It's also safe to use when nursing. It's awesome! I love it!

  • Fourth coconut oil
  • Ok now I will have to try the coconut oil, mine are chapped and sore too :(
  • I use nipple cream. medela is the brand I bought. After I coat them nicely I take toilet paper and gently press it over. Helps keep it going all day and from rubbing off on my bra.

  • Try putting band aids on them after the coconut oil. It will keep them from becoming overly stimulated and erect, which just makes them more painful. Mine have been like this too.

  • Lasinoh lanolin was my favorite lanolin.. Coconut oil is cool too, eapecially for that dryness..but I find the thickness of the lanolin has more of a protective barrier so to speak against friction and is this more soothing. And if it's really bad I know some who use the nipple shields ( medela makes them for BFing) to keep them from rubbing against anything.

I wear a lightly padded bra when mine are overly sensitive for extra protection. As for the dryness, PPs have covered that.

ETA: This shouldn't seem like an embarrassing thing to ask about, the majority of us are pregnant women, there are a couple soon to be dads, but for the most part we are pregnant women going through the same thing.

you could try soothies.  They're a little pricy but they are great.  they are silicone nipple pads. Ameda and Lasinoh have them.  They worked great when I had nipple pain during the start of breast feeding.

  • I like Medela nipple cream. It really helped in the early days of nursing DS. Plus it lasts a really long time. I have more than half of my original tube left.

  • Lanolin and these.  I couldn't use soothies because the cold on my nipples hurt too much.
