My heart goes out to you. Loss is so difficult. I think it's great to have a reminder to advocate for ourselves. I hope you get your BFP soon. You're in my thoughts. xo
I'm so sorry. Heartbreaking to go through that. I am grateful that my dr tested my hcg and progesterone. BUT like you they told me my spotting was normal. My sister encouraged me to call back and request the blood tests immediately and sure enough it went from a 9 (already low) to a 7.5. What I will tell you is at the time I ended up learning that progesterone can help a viable pregnacy but it won't help save one with chromosomal issues. Fortunately we had a healthy pregnancy but I feel for you as well.
And on a side note, I cannot stop watching your "Olympic Fail" siggy - I can't decided whether to cringe or LOL. Maybe a little of both.
:-O
Right?! I really want to know what happened after it cuts off and repeats. Is it possible to fly that far and then just stand up and walk away?!
Thanks for letting me vent ladies. I think I'm just anxious about our RE appt tomorrow and want everything to go perfectly so am replaying everything in my head.
Yes! I keep thinking he must have at least broken his nose or something.
And ... I think in your shoes, I'd feel just the way you do. Maybe with more swears, even. A "wait and see" attitude is fine for a 25yo TTC, but not so much for AMA patients, IMO.
Going to a RE is a huge step foreword. They are in the business of making babies. OB's just catch them. But I am glad to hear you will be finding a new one when you do get pregnant and graduate from your RE.
A simple blood test is all they had to do. I was told my spotting was normal and my cervix was closed... Bla, blah, blah.....well it wasn't so normal when I miscarried two days later. If I ever do get another BFP, I will be calling for a progesterone check right away. But my doctors are very accommodating so it won't be a problem. But I wish like you that I knew about low progesterone.
But I really am so happy that you are going to a RE. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Sharing your knowledge and experience is always a good thing. The more we all the know the better off we all are.
I think once you get to the RE you will see that they do things differently than an OB. They take more care in getting us pregnant and keeping us that way until we can go back to an OB. My RE starts testing progesterone levels from your first baseline screenings to before and during cycle treatments.
I'm sorry for your loss, but hopeful for you now that you will seek an RE's treatement. Best of luck to you in your next steps!

IUIs: 2 in 2012 ... Both BFN IVF #1: 10/16/13 ...BFP, however it was not viable and ended in an early loss at 7weeks. IVF #2:Feb '14 ... Cancelled. Positive beta at baseline appt, became very early loss. IVF #2: Apr '14 ... Retrieval Only. 2 embryos made it to day 3 freeze & will be batched with IVF #3 for PGD testing. IVF #3: June '14 ...Retrieval Only. 4 embryos growing, all arrested before day 5. Two from April thawed, but also arrested. Currently benched while determining how to proceed.
Well I do know I have a progesterone problem...and just so you can see both sides...was on it had level of 54 and great gestational sac ...then week six detached and collapsed sac and D&C next day. Progesterone level showed everything normal and also didn't help the fetus either:( ...the dr thought for sure that was my problem. So after 3 miscarriages in a row after healthy baby not even two yrs ago , the dr, my H and I are left scratching our heads in frustration...losses are hard no matter what:(
I am so sorry. Yes being and advocate for your own health is hard at times but so important. I had a suprise bfp like you and my progesterone was super low. I went to my RE instead of my obgyn because I knew I would get more prompt and urgent care. They immediately put me on progesterone. (They put everyone on medicated cycles on progesterone supps but I was on a break and not on them at the time). I ended up miscarrying and had a long talk with my RE about the progesterone issue because I too knew my levels were always problematic. ( I have weak ovulation etc). He told me that my loss was more likely due to chromosomal defects but agreed that I should be on progesterone support even when not on a medicated cycle just in case. They weren't going to hurt me.
Now I use a bbt and chart my cycles and start progesterone supps 3dpo and continue until I test at 14dpo every month. If I get a bfp I am "covered" if not I wasted some money and had to deal with the yucky side effects for a couple of weeks needlessly. To me it is worth it. I know it is no guarantee but I have a little peace of mind that I am doing everything I can.
Good luck with your RE!

So sry about the m/c. My first pregnancy was a missed m/c at 6 wks the fetus was small but a heartbeat. A wk later no heartbeat, d&c following day. Doc also stated it was probably a chromosomal deficiency. In my second pregnancy, 3 days after I got my BFP I was bleeding like a very light period. I had my progesterone levels checked & then two days after another progesterone test. It was a stressed out few days, because I thought I was m/cing. But prayer helped & he's my one & only child. Sending u hugs & good luck in your future
Grrr--that is maddening! The refusal to test, the dismissal of your concerns, and even the bit about chromosomes and your age--it all just sucks! X(
Glad you will be finding a new ob when the time comes. It IS hard to advocate for ourselves (not just with drs--I feel that way anywhere there's a knowledge differential; dealing with mechanics is the worst) but thank you for the reminder of why it's so important! Hugs, and best of luck to you!
