What level is your crib set at?

We recently lowered DS crib 1 level because he has started to crawl and grab onto his mobile. Last night at 3am, I woke up to a close-up of DS face and then suddenly he grabbed the monitor camera off the wall, I'm glad I was awake! When I went into his room he was kneeling with his hands on the top of the rail but trying to stand. I can only imagine he had to be standing in order to reach the camera, I think we're going down another level. What have you used as guidance to lower LO crib?

  • We went straight from the highest setting to the lowest when DD started rolling. We didn't want to take any chances. Since then I never had to worry about her falling out.
  • Loading the player...
  • She is on the middle one.  We lowered it once she started pulling up around 7mo (i think).  I have to lower it again soon.

  • On the very lowest
  • We are on the lowest but DD is now tall enough that when she stands her head is completely above the rail.  I figure it's only a matter of time until I hear a clunk-clunk in the middle of the night from her climbing out of her crib.  Right now we don't close her gate at night - it's too noisy if I have to go in and out to adjust her blanket or put laundry away while she's sleeping.
  • We moved DS's down to the lowest as soon as he started sitting up, since I knew it was just a matter of time before he'd be able to pull up to standing.

  • Our crib has 4 heights and we went from the highest (1) down to (3) when he was 7 months.  I wish I had just gone ahead and went to the lowest, it was really a pain in the tush to adjust and now I will need to do it again.
  • We recently went from the top setting to the very bottom setting. She was late to crawling and pulling up (only happened since Jan 1st). We weren't using her crib much, but had a scare when I went in to get her from a nap and learned she knows how to pull up by seeing her standing at the side.

  • We usually bed share/co sleep but we did lower her crib from highest to lowest last week.
  • Baby stands so it's as low as it goes!

  • Bottom once she started to crawl and try to get on her knees. A week later and she can already stand up in her crib!

  • We're still on the highest setting since rolling over is the most he can do in or out of the crib on his own.

  • We lowered ours all the way when DS pulled up for the first time.
  • Our crib is on the lowest setting. @pipsqueak0313 At almost 11 months and at the highest setting, I am nervous for your baby! If it were me, i would move it down ASAP. Our guy is slow to crawl (still army crawling) and is just starting to pull up on more things, but I don't see why you wouldn't rather be safe than sorry... especially since babies can go from not doing something at all to doing it all the time literally overnight.

  • We are at the middle. It has three settings and the highest to middle was a big jump. The lowest is just a little more.
We will be moving it to the lowest soon.

My ds is behind on reaching milestones.  He is unable to sit unsupported, not crawling in any manner, and just starting to bear weight on his legs while being held - pulling himself to a sit or stand is months away yet.  In terms of his physical abilities he's closer to a 4-5 month old.  So having him on the highest setting is perfectly safe still.

  • We lowered the crib around 5 months when DD started to pull up to standing. When they can sit up, I thought you were also supposed to remove the mobile, and I would also move the camera further away out of reach.

  • His crib has three levels, 1 being highest and 3 being lowest. Since I sidecarred his crib to my bed I left it at the 2nd level because any lower and his face would be bedframe level. Defeats the purpose...

As of now he's cruising furniture and "walking" with his toys so I know it's only a matter of time until he tries to climb over. I need to get the mattress to the floor sometime this month.

  • The day he sat up on his own (5months) we moved it to the lowest setting.

  • I have placed my crib at the lowest setting when my daughter was 7 months old.  She was able to look over the railing and I saw that as a safety hazard.  Now the poor thing looks like she is in baby jail but I would rather that than her falling out.  She can still reach her monitor and knock it on the floor.  Thank god for carpet.  I am going to have to position it on the wall some how looking into her crib.

    Same here

  • We went from highest to lowest. We didn't even bother with the middle setting. I'm glad we did since she's pulling up and hanging over the side already at 9 months.
