Finally getting around to posting Henry's birth story.
My water broke at 1:30 am on 1/14 - being strep b positive meant I was unable to labor at home and had to head in to the hospital for round one of antibiotics. Spent a little time in triage and admitted to a birthing room at 5 am. Very long story - short, labored all day long med-free, spent a lot of time in a jetted tub and on a yoga ball. I was convinced that we totally had this.
12:30 am on 1/15 we were finally at 9cms but baby was not coming down and was posterior. My midwife tried rebozo (most uncomfortable part of my labor) but Henry was staying put. Asked for an epidural after 24 hours of labor and was able to get a couple hours of rest. Woke up at 5am to 10cms, 3.5 hours of pushing and it was determined that he just wasn't going to fit.
Henry was born via emergency c-section at 12:02 pm on 1/15. My poor husband is still traumatized, I'm happy with the experience and had incredible care at Bellevue Hospital.
Here's a pic - he's fantastic!
