My DD is just about 2.5 and I thought for sure by now she'd be a better sleeper but not yet! She's been in her big girl bed since about July (she jumped out of the crib) and since she moved to the bed it's never been easy to put her to sleep. She now has gotten used to me laying either on the floor next to her bed or in bed with her. If I try to leave before she's asleep she gets up out of bed screaming/crying. I'll close and lock the door and she literally bangs on the door where I think she's going to break it down! We live in attached condos so I don't like to let her cry/scream for more than 10 minutes because of our close proximaty to neighboors. Any advise to break this horrible habit (that I created)? It takes some nights up to an hour for her to fall asleep!!
And a few other random questions...
1. What time does your LO got to bed typically and wake? We usually start the sleep process in her room around 7:30 but most nights she's not actually asleep until 8 or 8:30. And she wakes anywhere between 5am and 7am.
2. Does LO still nap? DD still naps 3 hours at daycare from 12-3! I think this may be why she takes so long to fall asleep. On the weekends she naps about 2 hours.
3. Is your LO potty trained? If not have you started the process or when do you plan starting?
4. If your LO uses a paci when do you plan on stopping? My DD still uses the paci for naps & night time and sometimes during the day if she's cranky.
Thank you all for your input and advice!
Re: Help! Sleep Issues and other questions for those w/a 2.5 y/o...
1. Bedtime at 8:30, asleep around 9, up at anywhere from 5:30-7
2. Nap time around 1:30-2 lasts around 2-3 hrs depending how hard she's been playing
3. She's potty trained for the most part but will still have an accident about every other day. We started about two weeks ago with the three day potty training method. We weren't into the naked thing do after two days we gave her panties and it worked our well.
4. We took the paci away the day after her second bday. It wasn't as bad as you'd think considering she loved the thing!
2. DD2 goes to bed between 7:30 and 8:00 and sleeps until about 6:00 on average.
3. She still naps for 2-3 hours in the afternoon. She needs it. If for some reason she misses a nap, she is a complete mess.
4. DD2 potty trained at 22 months. I think having a big sister helped in that department. She still wears a pull-up at night, but is dry in the morning more often than not.
5. We dropped the paci cold turkey right around her 2nd birthday. She had only been using it at night anyway. One night she really wanted to sleep in DD1s bed with her, so we told her she could, but that she couldn't have the paci in there. She said okay and that was it. We never gave it to her again.
1. What time does your LO got to bed typically and wake? We do bath, brush teeth, and read 2 books around 6:45ish. She is usually asleep by 7.. My problem is that every night around midnight, she wakes up screaming bloody murder and makes her way to our room. I can't seem to break her of it after 2 weeks of VERY little sleep trying to get her to go back to her room. She doesn't sleep in our bed, but I'm still unsure of how to keep her in her bed after she wakes up at midnight. Very frusturating
2. Does LO still nap? DD still naps 3 hours at daycare from 12-3! Yes, she naps 1.5-2 hours each day. 3 hours seems REALLY long
3. Is your LO potty trained? Yes, she is potty trained with very few accidents. But honestly, I didn't do any sort of method. She told me one morning that she didn't want a pull up, but wanted panties instead. So I said ok and she did it on her own. I did buy cute Princess and Minnie Mouse panties and talked them up a lot before hand though. They will do it on their own time. Less painful for you and her.
4. If your LO uses a paci when do you plan on stopping? No more paci. I am a mean mommy and waited for her to have a cold. She wasn't sleeping well anyways, so I figured I would take it away while I was already sleep deprived. haha mean I know

She goes into her bed around 7:30. Some nights she's asleep by 8. Other nights, she's still up at 9:30. She wakes up on her own between 8-9; I wake her up at 7 for school.

She dropped her nap about 2 weeks ago. It suuuuuucks.

She PTed at 2.5 years

She was using one at night and naps. I took it from her about a month ago. That's when her sleep went to hell...she used to sleep 7PM-8AM with not a peep after I put her down, then a 2 hour nap. That stopped when the paci was removed.
