  At our clinic, you need a pre-arranged appointment with a lab tech for an SA. At our first RE visit, we discussed doing an SA, but DH had to follow up and make the lab appointment after. 

  
  

  If we lived really far away so that the return trip would be too much of a burden, I'm guessing they might have accommodated him. But they definitely didn't demand that he produce a sample then and there!

  DH set up a separate appointment for his SA. Our RE said he could bring in a sample, which would have alleviated some of the pressure, but apparently DH didn't hear that until he was already there to do it at the office.

  Like PPs said, he should have to make an appointment for that. And you may not have bloodwork, depending on what CD you're on. Our first appt was just talking and going over paperwork. Good luck to you!

  Same here. Also, for the SA, he will have to follow guidelines as far as abstaining for at least 24 hours and ejaculating within 3 days, so it's unlikely they would ask him to produce a sample on the spot.

  DH had a separate appointment, like LaRomana09 said, there are guidelines to follow for a SA. DH didn't have blood work done until we were moving from IUI to IVF and they let us know before the appointment.

  Ditto @LaRomana09 about the guidelines he'll have to follow regarding the SA. So he shouldn't have to worry about that.
  
  At my first appointment, I had to have a bunch of bloodwork done but they told me so ahead of time. DH didn't have to have any at that appointment.

  I had my first appointment last week and it was more of a consultation. They told me that H needs to schedule an appointment for blood work and SA and I need to call the office on day 1 of my cycle so I can have necessary blood work on day 3. Good Luck!

  It os most always a talk and set up appointments for what ttests you'll need. Maybe some blood work and vag cam us depending on where you are in your cycle.

  I will echo what the other ladies are saying, you/he will have to set up an appointment for that. They won't assume he is ready and by that I mean has a store of 3-5 days of little swimmers on the dock and in waiting
