Are you supposed to eat before your GD test?

They probably told me when I made the appointment but because this is my third pregnancy I never listen because I'm an old pro at this. Till I remember the last time I did this was nine years ago....you don't need to fast, right?

For the one hour you don't usually need to fast but some doctors tell you to. You may want to call to avoid repeating the test.

I was fasting for 8 hours before, only water, not even coffee.

For the 1 hour - no you don't need to fast. 3 hour is different.

I think it's just an hour, but I'm not 100% certain. My appointment is first thing in the morning, so I guess I could just skip coffee and have a banana or nothing at all.

I just had a two hour last week. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight, except small sips of water. Good luck!

I didn't fast on purpose for my 1 hour... I just didn't have anything to eat since lunch (since I went after work) and I remember being so thirsty when I got there that I was excited to have something to drink!! I chugged that thing! Guess it worked too. Since I passed. Phew!

It's better to call and ask first. Some institutions have different protocols, I guess.

Update: you don't have to. I was hungry so I ate. He said that was fine. Now I'm waiting to get my blood drawn so I can leave!

I was asked to fast for 8 hours and go in as soon as I woke up, so my fasting hours were my sleeping hours. While there the technician asked me to drink as little water as possible. I would definitely call.
