What's your workout routine?!

So with everyone posting about weight loss goals and healthy recipes I thought it might be benificial to share your workout routine. I just got cleared to start working out yesterday and I just feel lost and don't know where to start. I did not work out during pregnancy so I definitely need to start out slow. But right now there's snow on the ground and so going on a walk with LO is out of the question.

Sorry if this has already been posted, I tried searching it!

Re: What's your workout routine?!

  • I do something different everyday. If I don't I will get bored. Today I did a Turbofire HIIT workout, Sunday I did I 5 mile hike with LO in a front pack, Saturday I did a step aerobics class at the gym...
Right now I only go to the gym on the weekends when DH can stay home with LO, so during the week I either take walks or do at home workouts.

  • I maintained my regular workouts during my pregnancy so I'm back at the gym doing everything I was pre pregnancy.  If you need something to do in the house I like the T25 DVDs.  I tried them before my son was able to go to the gym daycare.  I always did two so I was getting a 50 min workout, but if you're just starting out I think one would be great.

    Are they expensive??
  • I'm doing a lot of at home workouts - Jillian Michaels, yoga, etc. As soon as some snow melts I'm out the door for a run.

Side note, if anyone has amazon prime, there are tons of free workout videos!

I have AP and didn't know that. Thank you!!

  • I was still at crossfit 3 days past my due date so I felt comfortable returning at 3.5 weeks post partum. I started out with body weight work (push ups, squats etc) and incline walking. Now I'm back to the barbell and running. Did 3 miles today, it felt great! LO is 7 weeks. The hardest part is getting up at 5:15 for my 6am class after being up several times a night with the baby You can do a lot without equipment - push-ups, planks, sit-ups (if ab separation isn't an issue) burpees, squats, lunges, dips. Pick 3 or 4 of those movements, do ten of each for as many rounds as you can in 20 minutes. Super simple but super effective.

I'm not sure…I got them from someone.  I know they sell them on Amazon.

  • I just started back working out. I walk/run on the treadmill for 30 minutes and then do 20 minutes of ab workouts like Kate said.

  • I've started doing the couch-2-5K workout again. I also occasionally do aerobics from On Demand.

  • @kateVA you are my hero!

I'm doing 3x a week at the gym. Lots of cardio to lose the lbs! I'll add in weights in a couple of weeks. Running, step mill, Jacobs ladder, rowing.

  • I just tried doing a Pilates ab workout and totally gave up in the first minute. My ab muscles=pathetic
But! I made myself do the thigh/hip/butt one instead!

I have been doing her workouts for years. They are FREE but I bought her DVDs to try now once I am cleared to workout. Intense and short(for most part). I will also hit the gym when I can to do elliptical and weights as well as train for a half marathon. I do a lot of free weight work at the gym. Always look on Pinterest for moves.
  • Just got cleared yesterday too. I'm headed to the gym sometime in the next couple days and will start with the elliptical...I literally haven't worked out in nearly a year, so I need to ease into it. Want to ultimately start running, and I've always liked taking classes like Zumba, kickboxing, yoga etc...I need the fun aspect as well as the group setting to keep me accountable and motivated.
