In emergency room-updated again

Why do pedis wait till babies have to go to emerg before they treat them ? It's so aggravating! I called sat to say LO was very ill and thought she had a bubbling sound in her lungs.
Now it Monday am and here we are she can't drink because she is coughing so badly.

Update-thanks for all the well wishes, LO has a very bad virus and her o2 is low we are sitting here twiddling our thumbs because there is nothing they can really do. They are calling pedi to ask if we
can go.

Update x2-we are home, we were at the other emergency room for kids and then we went to Childrens. LO's lungs got really junky so her usual pedi sent us to children's. she got albuteral and now is at 100 o2. They said they can't do anything else except Tylenol, she has to get bigger for other things including ibuprofen. So if she gets worse she is being admitted.

I would question this. E was doing breathing treatments at 4 months, and she was not 20 lbs. Shes barely 22 lbs now at 18 months, and she wasn't 10 lbs till 12 weeks.
I might ask for a 2nd opinion.

I missed this..... If her lungs still sound junky and she's having trouble breathing, I'd be going to the children's hospital now. I'm not buying that they can't do treatments because of her size.....

Aye I hope they figure this out. This sounds like a pedi preference over a rule since I know others who's kids had treatments before 20 pounds.

Definitely this! She totally could get albuterol, but if it is RSV it might not help. Good luck - hope she is better soon!!

Oh no! I am so, so sorry. Poor baby. I agree with PPs who suggested going to Children's if she does not improve. I hope she feels better soon though!

Poor LO. I hope she feels better soon. Both boys had breathing treatments for bronchialitis when they were six months and 15 pounds. They only got half the dose of albuterol.
