Need ideas: Mom's group discussion topics

So, the owner of my local natural parenting boutique/resource center has asked me to lead their Momma's Circle.  She has been doing Momma's Circle for several months now, with little attendance.  She wants me to sort of revamp it and make it more structured with specific themes or topics of discussion for each meeting.  The group meets once a week.

What kinds of things does your Mom's group discuss?  What woud you like to discuss if you were to attend a group like this.  It can be Mom/Family  related or specifically EFF related.

Thanks!

Re: Need ideas: Mom's group discussion topics

  • I'm actually on our local MOPS steering team, and have a whole book of topics.  Here's a few fun ones:

*Mom's Circus- Between everyone's appointments, school activities, afterschool activities, and volunteering, most moms begin to feel overwhelmed and lost.  Like a tilt-a-wirl you just want to get off of, a mom's life and those of her family members can feel completely uncontrollable.  Help moms take back their family lives by learning from each other.

*Why do moms feel guilty for personnal time?  How much self neglect can a mother take, before it takes a toll on herself and her family?  Plan a spa day, complete with relaxation, makeovers and chocolate.

*Family health- where do the vitamins a family needs come from?  What foods are truely bad, and what foods are fantastic indulgances?  Have a nutritionist come and help moms balance healthy eating.

*The truth about debt- How can a family find financial utopia?  Have a financial advisor, a bank loan officer, or an accountant speak and explain the best ways to pay off debt & build savings.

  • Thanks Jenni, some of those sound like they could be really interesting.
