3rd Trimester

So much fun!

I had to share because I'm not sure if everyone knows this is an option!

Get in touch with your local colleges and find out if their sonography/ultrasound technician programs need volunteers! I got in touch with mine and went yesterday and I spent TWO HOURS just watching my baby :) it was amazing! She was sucking her fingers and toes, blinking and she even yawned when they were hovering over her face at one point! Talk about goosebumps!! They sent me home with a CD full of pictures (46 to be exact) and even scheduled me to come back later for a different class to practice on me.

You have to have some patience because it's students doing the scans so they aren't trained professionals yet but they did really well for me and took all the pictures I wanted. The instructor came around at the end of the class and took some really great pictures for us. The class was practicing OB measurements so they only needed pregnant women from 24-30 weeks but they have other classes where they find organs later on and things like that.

Oh did I mention it's FREE! Maybe that's obvious but that was more than enough reason for me to go volunteer. Stare at my sweet little girl for two hours and take home a bunch of pictures?? HECK YES!

  • I get the excitement of seeing the kiddo for hours on end, but I'm going to discourage you from making this  a regular thing. U/S should be kept at a minimum, as recommended by various OB/medical practitioners. It's generally a safe procedure, but if done for long intervals on multiple occasions, the risks become greater.

  • Yah that doesn't seem safe, and slightly irresponsible. Glad you got some good pictures though?

Yeah, this. It would be fun to do, for sure, but I would not be comfortable sitting there for two hours.
