Secondary IF

Stupid paperwork 2nd opinion WWYD

Backstory- I have been to 3 RE/clinics and sought treatment with the 3rd practice.  Each RE has mentioned me needing IVF and I thought that is what they all say but finally feel convinced by my current RE that I do need to proceed with IVF.  I like my RE and the practice is well run albeit busy and an 1hr drive away.

So, I sought out a second OP with an RE whose practice is still 40 min away but they do monitoring 20 min from me.  So the procedures are still a drive but the monitoring is more doable.

Tomorrow is my 1st consultation appointment and I thought I had all the paperwork in. Then today they call to say they don't and cancelled my appointment. WTH.

Do I just stick with my RE that I like despite the drive or forge ahead? I do think they will probably also say to do IVF.

Re: Stupid paperwork 2nd opinion WWYD

  • Wow I am surprised they cancelled a consultation because of missing paperwork. Is it something you can send in today or are they looking for test results or something like that? Anyway, if it is something that can be taken care of easily I would probably give it a try with the RE that does the monitoring 20 minutes away. I always have to take time off of work for my appointments and the closer RE would be more convenient. Good luck with whatever you choose!

It wasn't medical records, it was the stupid forms for their office I thought I would be able to give them to him today. But apparently they need 1 week to review them c'mon

  • That is weird - I didn't have all of my paperwork of that nature finished until the second appt! That doesn't seem like a good sign for how that office will be but maybe worth waiting until the appt next week before ruling them out? A 20 minute drive vs an hour is a big difference!
  • That doesn't sound right... I didn't have all of mine filled out and they just asked me about it at the consultation. (We filled out all our paperwork online) I would go with the one you like best.  The drive in the big scheme of things is the least of the issues. I would say.

  • I think that you should like your doctor and the office. If you keep getting put off for silly things like not having your paperwork, then you will just get frustrated and stressed out and that is the last thing you need when starting IVF!

  • I'd be annoyed about that paperwork delay, seems silly. I totally understand the drive concerns, especially in regards to monitoring. But like @freakyfast said, in the grand scheme of things that's pretty minor if you can make the long drive work!

  • Right well honestly, the commute sucks but I feel comfortable with the current clinic.  I just wanted to get a second opinion consult and I told the new place that is what I was looking for not to change practices yet. That's what makes me even more annoyed.
