ENT tomorrow

We've had 8 ear infections in about 10 months. 2 that needed double antibiotics to go away and one round that went away and was back a month later. So, to ent we go. I start night classes feb 25, so IF he needs tubes I'm doing it ASAP. He's not really talking and has doesn't seem to hear well.

Has anyone had tubes done this young?

It was a long, draining day for us but DS really did great! He was scheduled for 2pm which was the worst part because couldn't eat all day. We were under the impression it would be first thing but apparently we picked the one day the ENT started at 1pm. So definitely make sure it will be first thing!

We were super nervous for anesthesia, which I think is pretty normal. I was able to walk him back to the OR and watched the anesthesia. It was not fun to see but DS held my hands and just stared at me. I think it helped to calm him so that made it worth it. Then I cried...haha!

Waking up was rough but once we got out of the hospital he seriously was like a new person. They told us he might be tired and cranky - nope! He went right back to eating and has been great since. I kind of wish we did the tubes a while ago.

You probably didn't want so much info but it was such a huge thing for us, so thought it might help. Good luck to you!!

THANK YOU. I want to know everything. He's sleeping like crud. Although he's getting his last molar... I'm fairly sure it's his ears still. I'm sure he will be fine. I'm just nervous.

Good luck tomorrow! @ccam glad everything went well the other day. I'm sure it was not a fun day. Even the "simple" procedures are scary for parents. Hopefully no more ear infections.

You're welcome! We just finished a round of antibiotics 2 days before tubes and the Dr said the stuff he drained out if his ears was pretty much the consistency of Elmer's glue (gross!!). So that goes to show what can still be in there. No wonder he's constantly poking his ears. Hoping there will be a big change in him! Hope tomorrow goes well!

We just went to the ENT specialist yesterday and her tubes are getting put in Monday. She had to have a hearing test today and they said her hearing is pretty bad and the tubes should fix it. I'm really nervous too. Good luck!

Poor kiddo! No tubes here, but our neighbors' DS had them recently with no issues, and he's doing so much better since then! Good luck!

no experience with my little one yet- but I had tubes and adenoids removed at 4.

my neighbor's daughter just had hers done and she's 15 months and she seemed completely unfazed by it all!

I feel the the younger the better sometimes because they don't really remember and bounce back super fast.

    good luck! :)

My DS had tubes in his ears when he was 6 months old and he has had no problems since then. He did really well and there isn't anything to worry about it. He had tubes on top of a hypospadias repair and the tubes took all of 10 minutes tops!
    Good luck!

DS had tubes put in last May. He failed his hearing test at the ENT and when they did the procedure, the doctor said his ears were full of thick nasty stuff. It was the best decision we ever made for him. The whole procedure was 10 minutes and we had a rough time when he woke up but once we started home he passed out and was a totally different child when he woke up! His hearing went back to normal once the tubes were put in.

    Good Luck!

It went good. (Besides freaking out because he didn't want to be there). Were doing tubes on the 17... They wanted to do his adenoids too but he really doesn't snore, so I won't let them.

Anyone know how much it costs? We are taking M soon and kind of freaking out about the cost.

I paid my copay for the visit. But my insurance should cover the majority if not all of the surgery

I am taking ds Thursday to the ENT. He doesn't really talk and he's always tilting his head to one side or the other. Just want to make sure he can hear. I had tubes put in when I was a baby, so I wonder if he'll have to have then. They say it is hereditary.
