Pulling up in crib and not wanting to sleep.

LO is now pulling up in her crib. However she pulls to stand and then won't lay down and go to sleep. I'm at wits ends with her I can spend anywhere from 20-60 minutes laying her back down over and over. Any suggestions?

  • Yeah, S started doing this too. Good times.

  • So we aren't standing yet, but we had this problem with sitting up once S figured out how to do that on her own. After an hour of trying to put her down, we ended up just letting her fuss and sit up...eventually she started to fall asleep sitting up, and then fell over, rolled onto her belly and went to sleep. That was a week ago and now she's figured out how to fold herself over and go to bed. Our pedi said that's what we're supposed to do because otherwise they won't figure out how to sit down/lie down on their own.

  • Maddy did this for 4 or 5 days and I would intervene. One might I just let her figure it out/ took about 15 minutes but she flopped down onto her belly and slept like a champ. Well, as much of a champ as she ever has anyway.

  • This is my life now! It makes her wise awake...we've had a few very minimal sleep nights
  • I feel your pain @theycalledherkate.... Need I say more?

  • Mine does this also. After many sleepless nights we decided to lay him back down rub his belly for a minute ( while he was fighting to get up) and then we walked out and shut the door. We let him cry it out and within a few minutes he was back to sleep on his own. After a week of this he either sleeps straight thru or wakes once and is back to sleep in a minute.
  • DD is doing this.  Supposedly its a combination of new skill and separation anxiety?  I have no solution.  I cave and bring her in my bed so  I can sleep.
