Still need prayers

My 9 month old nephew is now on icu on a ventilator due to RSV. He also will probably have to have a blood transfusion in the next day or two due to anemia. I am beginning to get worried and uneasy though the doctors keep saying they expect him to recover, it's just going to take longer and more work than originally thought. I feel helpless.

My great uncle is still on a ventilator as well and has been on dialysis for four days now trying to get his kidneys restarted. They have yet to attempt to wake him since his surgery last week.

Please keep these two in your prayers. I hate this waiting!

Thanks ladies. My mother in law called my husband last night very upset because they were having to use a bag and hand pump on my nephew because his oxygen got too low even on the vent. My husband, who is a paramedic, said it was very common for this to be done but it scared my mother in law none the less.

I prayed so hard last night that this little boy can keep fighting. It's hard to believe the doctors when things seem to keep going downhill. Yesterday they told everyone to expect two steps forward and one step back. I just wish there was something I could do. I can't even visit because of the concern that I bring the virus home do my LOs. I just want him to start improving!

They did the blood transfusion on my nephew yesterday and they said his color is already looking better. They also did a chest X-ray yesterday and saw improvement. He is still wheezing and still on the vent but is taking in more air than he has been. Keep praying for this sweet baby!

No update on my uncle really. They are still doing dialysis for his kidneys. One hasn't worked in a while, the other they are not sure was working properly and with all the fluids they pumped into him they said it was just going to take time. They also are in no hurry to wake him because of the stitching in the aorta, it needs time to heal before he starts moving. So for now he is just in a holding pattern. The kidney thing has me concerned though. Five days of dialysis seems like a lot!

I'm sorry to hear this, I will pray for them. Having been thru RSV last year with the twins and now again with my son it's a scary thing period!

My nephew is maintaining. My uncle was taken off the vent yesterday and woken up. He said his wife and children's names and spoke a few other words to them. Everything seems to be working well except for his kidneys. He still on dialysis trying to get them going. Definitely a step in the right direction. I am praying he has a good recovery and can walk his daughter down the aisle in may!
