Had mine today...side note...I really hate the tape they use at the lab to keep the cotton ball over where the blood was taken. I swear I rip off layers of skin trying to get it off. Good luck tomorrow!
I did mine this morning. Not so bad, mine was like a slightly carbonated Hi-C with a Tang kick. It was chilled, which definitely helped me drink it within the allotted 5 minutes. I don't think I could have downed it warm.
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
I'm also going in today. My one at 19 weeks wasn't too bad, but I'm not so optimistic about this one. Luckily if I fail, my MW already agrees that I'll just continue with the GD diet and monitoring due to my history without the three hour.
Currently enjoying the aftermath of 100 grams of sugar. I've got the 3 hour today and why is the blood work area DIRECTLY beside the cafe. All I smell is coffee and bagels. I'm hungry. It's gonna be a long 3 hours.
Uhhh. Whining follows.... I just peeked at my 1 hour results. I failed by 4 points. I bombed much worse last pregnancy so hopefully that means I can avoid meds with a good diet and exercise. I knew this was coming but I was still trying to be hopeful. Damn you placenta!!
My best advice is bring a good book. Then the time flies by!!
Married Rob May 23rd 2008 * Munchkin due May 5th 2014 * Getting back on the waiting list for domestic infant adoption May 2015 * Apparently May is our month!
I had my 1 hour yesterday, so I actually asked my OB for the pre-registration forms for when D-Day comes. It took me over 30 minutes to fill them all out and kept my mond off of the current situation :-)!
I had the orange drink and I am still feeling the aftermath of all that sugar, ugh! Woke up with a severe headache and feeling blah!! And this was after I drank like 2 liters of water!! But hey, at least I'm all registered!!! Another block checked off the list!
They took 6 vials from me, but I think my OB added additional tests in there since I'm military, like HIV etc.... Annual requirement for us.
I did the 1-hr and 3-hr with my previous pregnancy and had no problems with either. To me it was just like drinking soda or juice on an empty stomach, then sitting around bored for a while. I ate a good lunch in the car on the way home from each test. NBD. And I had venipunctures for all. Also NBD. I'd rather have a venipuncture than a finger stick anyway. I type a lot and still change a lot of diapers and don't want sore fingers for any of that.
I take omeprazole every morning, and I think that helped prevent any heartburn or nausea that otherwise might've come from drinking a sugary drink on an empty stomach.

I take mine in a few weeks. My OB sent me home with the drink (fruit punch) and I'm suppose to drink it at home an hour before my appointment so I guess I can do my waiting at home!
Good luck I don't have mine till next week... My OB gave me the drink to take home & just show up an hour later. I'm always late so I'll be there extra early!
I had mine yesterday ...pretty bad...baby started kicking like crazy ..and my heartrate seemed to jump ..plus a pain on left side emerged (which I had a complain abt in my 1st trimester) it got me sooooooooooo worried...thankful it's over ..
Baby is large at 23 weeks and I have high normal amniotic fluid, so they had me do the 1-hour today. It tasted like Hawaiian Punch. Two vials taken... But I didn't have any adverse effects from the sugar.
My midwives' office said they don't do the 3 hour anymore, that the new / better version is only a 2 hour test. Still I hope I can avoid it, though the perinatologist felt like my measurements suggested GD. (I eat ridiculously healthy so I can't wrap my head around this one even though rationally I know it has to do with a lot more than diet...)
This will be my 3rd attempt. 1st attempt, the dr ordered it too soon. I was sent home PISSED because I missed work to make the appt. Then last week, the Atlanta snow closed the drs office. I sure do hope I get it done this time even if I'm dreading it. I'm tired of avoiding ice cream - I don't normally want any but don't tell me I can't have it...then it's a MUST HAVE!
I had mine today. It wasn't bad but I for sure thought I failed because I tested my own blood glucose at the hour mark with a meter and got 155. My venipuncture came back at 128 though so I passed. Are home meters really off by that much?
Curious: I've seen 100 and 133 failed, and 128 passed. Any clue which it is, or does it vary by doc/pre-preg weight? Will I find out tomorrow if I pass? Should I be worried?
I haven't heard anyone mention the glucose test bothering them before so now I'm curious. Does it make you sick or is it the blood work following that bothers you? Just curious what I have to deal with when I go in the 26th.
My doctor said anything 130 or over is failing. I passed with 98. I believe the person above to said she failed with 100 said it was measured in grams... the test is usually measured in mg/dl, which is why it seems confusing. Correct me if i'm wrong.

If it helps anyone, word is that most women who have to take the longer test come back fine. My results are late so I'm just twiddling my thumbs til the am....
I asked my doc, and they said they do a two hour test only. If the one hour is 150+ and the two hour is 130+, that is the end. It didn't taste bad, just had to get blood drawn three times for a total of five vials. If I fail, they will call within a week to get diabetic meetings set up. Otherwise, I'm good.
Has any one gotten their 3 hour results back? One of my numbers was elevated so I'm on a take it easy on sweets and carbs warning. Which is of course the only thing I crave!
I'm just bummed because diabetes runs in my family and I was hoping I would be in the clear completely.
I had to drink orange goo at home it wasn't that bad for me, then drive to dr to get blood drawn an hour later. Unfortunately I failed it pretty bad because I'm not even taking the 3 hour test just being sent to dietician. I took test at 27 weeks. Good luck.
