March 2014 Moms

I might have an February baby and not a March...sigh

Ok I know she is going to come when she is ready but I am certainly not. I know I am being stupid and unreasonable with myself and what is probably going on but still. (I know I have issues...HA) I promised my 12 year daughter who will be 13 on Valentine's day that she could have her last birthday party without her sister being born. Was told my DD is March 2nd. I also told her most likely she won't be ready till the end of this month. Well come to find out the doctor's said they might have gotten my DD wrong. They said from the look of the ultra sound and test coming back she is ready. All organs and lungs are ready to go! Woot very excited and happy to hear she is doing so well. My thing is were not ready yet here at home and my daughter 13th bday party is this Saturday for a slumber party and a family party this Sunday. She asked not to have the new baby here yet, she's afraid everyone is going to be paying attention to the baby and make it a mini baby shower instead of everyone celebrating her bday. And I totally understand her, I would feel the same way! Oh doc called and told me to get to L&D asap! Having hurtful contractions every 15-20mins with small ones every 5 mins plus it feels like the baby arm/foot is in my birth canal and they think I am leaking fluids. Don't smell like urine  (sorry TMI) so I am trying not to freak out and really hoping we are all over reacting atm.

  • Maybe if you're having her now-ish it sounds like, maybe the new baby excitement will be dying down a little bit in a couple weeks when she actually has her party. Or you and DH could take turns tending to the LO in another part of the house so the baby isn't having her debut during her party. Idk if that is feasible for your situation... Just some thoughts.

  • My first DD was born 4 days after my step daughter turned 13. She didn't want to hold her and she didn't talk to me for two weeks after. She lived with us full time so it was really tough. 2 years later I was terrified to tell her I was pregnant again. She had the best reaction out of anyone. She has been a great big sister and I'm sad she will be away at college when lo is born. This lo is due the 27 th of March. DD will be 19 on the 26 th and DD1 will be 6 on the 30 th. 13 is tough but it will get better. T&P for a healthy and safe delivery and a great birthday for your daughter.

  • My baby was ready at 34 weeks they said. I'm 37 now and still going. My birthday is on Wednesday. I don't care about her arriving on my birthday (though I would if I were in your daughters shoes of course) but what I hate about being born at that time is that I never got many birthday parties because of either snow or the Super Bowl or both. I don't want to have to deal with planning bday parties for my daughter around the Super Bowl. It seriously sucks. Especially when you don't like football. But she may end up arriving this week. My mom's due date with me was the same as my due date with LO. So maybe she will want to be like her mom. I'd like her to wait until after Valentines day when I'm 39 weeks. But that's up to her.
