Frustrated

Yesterday was my EDD and I had my 40 week appt today.  I still have nothing going on and am feeling down.  My OB is pretty sure baby is posterior which could cause the lack of dilation so I've tried a few different things tonight to try to help with that.  My regular OB is leaving to do a medical mission trip in Africa Friday morning so unless something happens by Thursday, I won't get to have him deliver my baby.  I know these things happen but I'm super bummed and disappointed.  I just needed to vent about my situation and have people remind me that no matter what I will get to meet my little guy soon.

Re: Frustrated

  • I'm sorry you are feeling down. The waiting at the end is the worst, especially if you feel pressured to get things done before your dr leaves. Just remember that due dates are estimates and babies come when they are ready. Try to walk a little each day, maybe have some sex and just hang in there. It won't be long, mama!
I hope to create a real siggy but first I need some sleep!

  • Sorry you're feeling down! The anticipation of "when is this baby going to make their big debut?" Gets so much harder the closer you get to EDD and especially after EDD.

I too am struggling with the fact that my doctor won't be delivering my baby. She was also pregnant and due a week before me so we thought if I went early she would still be there. Complications with her pregnancy took her off work the last couple months so I've had to see other doctors in the practice, and now it will be whoever is on call delivering my baby. Frustrating, but luckily I have met them all and don't have any issues with any of them.

Hang in there, you're so close!
  • My doctor won't be there for me either. She's off to Hawaii, and won't be back even if I have get induced. I'm 40 weeks on Wednesday and have nothing going on either, so I totally relate to your frustration. Hang in there - he has to get out sometime soon. :)
  • Thanks for the support.  Sorry that you two also won't have your regular OB there for you @selahvey and @snowwhite1979
  • Hugs! You're being a real trooper. It must be really difficult to go to your 40 week appointment and not see the progress you are expecting. I'm not sure what to say, but I do want to assure you that you will not be pregnant forever. Baby will eventually come out! I'm sure you will end up in capable hands. As an aside, it's super cool that your doctor does medical mission work in Africa.

I know, I'm mad at myself for even being upset that he will be gone because it's such a great thing!
  • Just trust that your little one needs the extra time. :)

I know how you feel from my first pregnancy. FWIW, I had an OB I didn't know deliver both of my babies and it wasn't a big deal! I imagine it's pretty fun though to have strangers ask you when you're due and be able to say a day that has already passed :)
