Favorite diaper brand?

My favorites with my ds were Pampers Swaddlers, but I was hoping to find a cheaper store brand since I'll be buying for two babies this time.  What brand is your favorite?

Re: Favorite diaper brand?

  • Pampers swaddlers or the 12 dry. The cheapie didn't work for us. Sorry.

Target up and up brand is excellent. We use pampers swaddlers only with the twins and our oldest son when he was in diapers but when he hit the size 5/6 we used the pampers cruisers and the up and up and I loved them both. Once these guys are in the larger size we will use them again. I just love the softness and they way the swaddlers fit. We have used honest and co diapers but I always go back to the swaddlers. But the up and up work and fit similar to the pampers brand. I should say though we don't use cheaper brands for our kids when they are under size 5 that's why we held off on getting the up and up brand. Mostly due to skin sensitivity issues.

  • I have a few. I love Pamper Swaddlers. When they aren't in the price range for budget I use Luvs or Target Up and Up. The Target diapers are soft and absorbent. Luvs seem to be less fluffy then Swaddlers and Target Up and Ups, but they are just as absorbent IMO.

  • I love pampers swaddlers but hated the weird smell of the baby dry... Huggies leaked every time. We look for coupons for diapers everywhere we can.

  • Loved Pampers with our first daughter. We used Baby Dry during the day and Swaddlers or Movers overnight (they were more absorbant, so she wouldn't leak with them.)
  • In general, we could get away with almost any cheaper during the day but had no choice overnight if we didn't want to wake up in the middle of the night to a soggy bed.
  • I love target up and up brand! With DD nothing worked but pampers but with the boys I can use anything and target is the cheapest per diaper. Love, love, love them!

  • When I use disposables, I find Luvs work pretty well for my boys. The toys r us ones stunk big time for them. But I use cloth most of the time.

  • We also do cloth most of the time, but use 7th Generation for disposables. I can't handle the chemical smell of Pampers and Huggies.

  • Well maybe I'll just suck it up and get the pampers.... I'm only planning on using the newborn size and then will switch to the Kirkland brand at Costco when they get into size 1. That's what I use for my son now and they work great, the wipes too.
  • We used gDiapers with disposable inserts till DD outgrew then length wise (torso was too long for a good fit). We then used Pampers swaddlers. Huggies gave her a rash. Now we use Pampers Cruisers. We recently tried Honest Co. and they leaked really bad for us. We'll be starting with gDiapers again this time because we never had a single issue with diaper rash while using them so it's worth it to me.

  • Definitely Huggies/Kirkland this time around. When my girls were little, Pampers, LUVS, and store brands were my go-to - but the boys leak out of them (and Jamie gets rashes from them).

another vote for Target diapers here!
So far they are the only ones that will hold up overnight. Huggies, Pampers, and Luvs all leak for us.
I tried Parent's Choice from Walmart and they gave G a rash almost instantly.

When they were tiny newborns, I had some success with CVS brand diapers, but when the girls got older and started to drink more, they didn't hold up so well.

I also agree with some PP's about the pampers smell. The NICU uses them and Huggies; I can always tell which brand they've put on Little Ricky just by standing by his crib and sniffing. Weird, I know.

It's so funny to me that so many people dislike the smell of Pampers. My sister won't use the Baby Dry for the same reason. They don't smell at all to me, except like pee or poop when they need to be changed.

Same here. We even used other brands depending on sales and I can't say I ever noticed much difference in smell.

With DS we loved pampers Swaddlers and switched to baby dry when he outgrew those. We did use Target and BRU brands to send to daycare because they changed them so often. With the twins we are planning to use Swaddlers again in the beginning and then trying out the Target brand. Now that I'm SAH it would be nice to save some money if we can!

  • Target and pampers were the only diaper brands I liked. I like Huggies pull-ups better than pampers though.
  • I also recommend the Target diapers.  I used Pampers Swaddlers for DS1 and in the beginning with my twins, but with 3 bums to cover, Pampers gets expensive.  I tried the Wal-Mart diapers, but they leaked like crazy and gave my oldest and youngest a rash.  I am not a fan of Kirkland diapers.  I find they felt weird and weren't really that absorbent.  I am not a fan of Huggies on my boys either, but my friend swears by them for her girls.  The Target diapers fit like Pampers, absorb a lot, and we haven't had a leak yet despite my youngest pooping twice his body weight the other day.

  • I prefer Pampera Swadlers as well for newborns. When my kids reach 1.5 years old or so, I switch to Target brand. They work great.

This time around I decided to sign up for Amazon Prime and use the Subscribe and Save program
Solely for wipes and diapers. I am getting 3 boxes of diapers per month and 2 boxes of wipes. Diapers,
With the discount, are 21 cents per diaper. That's pretty good for Pampers. If I find a better deal one month, I can turn off the Subscribe and Save just for that month, too.
  • I'll add I had great success with Sam's Club brand diapers with my second daughter - Member's Mark.
But we'd moved away when the twins were born and there was not a Sam's nor a Costco within a 2 hr drive, so that's how we ended up trying the Target kind with the twins.

I guess I'll take back the packs of Parent's Choice ones I got and try Target's again.  I had some when ds was a newborn and they were fine I guess.  I read some recent reviews that said they had changed in quality and aren't as good as they used to be, but if you guys recommend them I'll try them :)

Also, I never noticed a smell with the pampers.... maybe because I was using the sensitive ones?  I just bought a box of the regular ones this time.

  • I liked Pampers swaddler for the newborn poo phase (size nb - 1), then Huggies after that (size1+).  Huggies leaked too much with the newborn poo, but the Pampers sucks it right up.  But once they started peeing more volume it was like the pampers diapers would swell up so much that I'd have to change them between feedings and the diaper was barely wet.  Huggies did great for that, and by the time they felt swollen, they were loaded with pee.

I get my Huggies at Costco - 210 diapers for $38.99 - $0.186 per diaper (size 3).  It's the best regular price I've found for them, and I've checked around a lot.

I have tried Up & Up.  I do like them too, they really do the job, but I still prefer the Huggies, especially for overnight.
