I just use this. Once a day because that's about as disciplined as I can get myself. The one I bought came with baby toothpaste in the package I put a tiny microscopic dot of it on to keep my baby interested.
Not sure I'd try a 'normal' toothbrush at this point in time...my daughter is too wiggly and unpredictable...pretty sure she'd manage to swallow the brush whole!
Our pediatric dentist said we don't need paste. The toddler paste should be started some time after the first year, but it's only to reach them how to spit really. We use a normal toddler brush. She loves to do it when one if us does ours.
We use a generic baby toothbrush from the store. We don't use any toothpaste yet, because our pediatric dentist told us not to use any until they are around 2 years old. We brush twice a day. Morning and night. Our dentist said, morning is mostly just for practice, breath, and fun. Night is the most important, because that is when the cavities set in for the night to work their magic. Per the dentist request, we are now flossing LO teeth too. Only the teeth that touch

We do morning and night. I set her on the counter and start with her teeth. She is pretty good at opening her mouth but it does take a little while because she loves to bite down on the brush. After Im done with her, I give her the brush and brush my own teeth so she can watch how I do it. I got her tooth brush from target. It came with some toothpaste but we only use water at the moment.
We use the smallest toothbrush I could find and just water. I think it's mainly to get him used to it. We brush once a day, at nighttime... after I nurse him, I put some water on the brush, very gently brush over his 4 teeth, and then let him hold it and chew it a little bit before I take it out and put him to bed.
