Re: PP Stitches

  • I've been icing like crazy but have no other suggestions. I know how you feel! Hopefully it's a quick recovery but I have no idea what more we can do but wait.

  • You poor thing! Sounds like you are doing everything right. I second the ice and maybe take an Advil? The main thing is patience and trying not to do too much. Hang in there!
I hope to create a real siggy but first I need some sleep!

    Mom to Lily and Colin!
  • Maybe try some ice packs and Tylenol?
  • Sorry to say but time is really what you need. It's only been two days, you're going to be sore. Beyond what youre already doing I found using the peri bottle while peeing helped keep the pee from irritating things more. And just taking it easy. Hope you feel better soon!

  • FTM here with an inside baby.  I was wondering, don't they give you pain medicine when you go home?  I just assumed so.
  • My baby is about 17 days old now and I had a third degree tear. I was on here around day 2-3 asking for help too and I very clearly remember HOW much it hurts.

First of all, I am here to say this is going to get better. I am currently sitting at my kitchen table and discussing with my husband how I'm 4 hours late on my Advil and actually feel fine. Even a week ago, I was not sitting at any tables and I was definitely not forgetting my Advil! I also took 2 short walks with the baby over the weekend, again I was at a point where walking to the bathroom was a struggle.

A couple of things I think helped me:
    - I iced with ice diapers. My husband cut open newborn diapers and put ice in them and then I put them on like a pad.
    - Did you get a sitz bath at the hospital? Those were annoying but also good for healing, I put epsom salt in mine.

I was sitting on a boppy but my nurse told me that can stretch things out so it might not be the best plan, so instead I just sit on regular pillows. I actually don't even need a pillow anymore now unless it's a super hard surface.

Good luck! I hope it gets better FAST. I started to see major improvement around day 10!

  • Thanks for the clarification, ladies. I guess I assumed with the painful recovery there were be rx meds...just like after most medical procedures I've had. Obviously pregnancy/delivery is a whole new ballgame!
