Peanut butter introducers come in!

Anyone who has introduced peanut butter to LO, how did you do so? I want to try it with LO but I'm not sure if I just dive right in and give him a taste. I put a smear on his cheek and wiped it off 2 minutes later since I herd u could try it on the cheek first but I honestly knew nothing else about that technique. I don't expect and allergy, no one in my family has a nut allergy, but I rather be safe.

Re: Peanut butter introducers come in!

  • I did just the cheek thing and honestly I forgot about it until an hour later #-o
By then I figured he was okay but there wasn't a reaction. Also no one in my or SO family has any type of allergies. He loves his PB and J sandwiches!

  • Ava was fine with PB but I haven't tried it with mila yet, although she has come into contact with it via Ava. We have no known allergies in our family. I have friends who have peanut allergies in the family and they've introduced it AT the 1 year check up in case there's a reaction.

I just went for it, gave him a little bit on a spoon.

We've gone through Strawberries/Shellfish/Fish/Tree Nuts/Peanut Butter with no issues.

We gave him eggs and he had a weird reaction like 9 hours later.. since it took so long we weren't sure if it actually was the eggs. Anyway, we have since tried eggs again and it's all good!

Edit: absolutely no allergies in my family though, I would probably handle it a bit different if there was.

  • We just went for it around 7 months. I put a thin layer on some toast and let her go for it. We have no nut allergies in our family.

  • I put it on his cheek and no reaction. So I gave him a bit on my finger before his normal meal. When I realized he hadn't had any sort of reaction the rest of the night, I figured it was a go. He looooooves peanut butter!!!

  • We have been giving him PB for a few months. Sometimes it is right off the spoon, sometimes I put it on a waffle for breakfast. We just gave it when we were both home to supervise for any signs of allergies

  • I gave I'm a little bit of plain peanut butter on a spoon... If he had a reaction, I wanted to know for sure it was from the pb! I also did it on a Saturday so that I was around to keep an eye on hm and in case we had to rush to the hospital or something.
