Not allowed to go outside today T_T

Anyone else order to stay in and not go outside today because of the weather and Ice? Feel like a toddler in trouble with not being allowed to go out. Was invited to go to lunch and shopping today with friends but can't T_T. Anyone else in the same vote?

Re: Not allowed to go outside today T_T

  • I hate when it gets icy and the hubby walks me to the car and through parking lots like I'm an old lady lol. Do u think you can have someone with you to make sure you get there safe?

  • No. I have been given a few snow days at work because of poor road conditions and below zero temps but that was out of concern and courtesy.  My husband gets concerned and ask that I take care but he knows I will do what I need to do. I work and we have a toddler. The world can't stop because winter shows up.

I only listen to doctors orders. Did your doctor ask you to stay inside?

  • Um hell no. Unless it was Dr orders based on a medical need no one is telling me to stay anywhere. How ridiculous.

Y'all need to calm down!  This question is super adorable.  Why so serious?

I'm not in the same boat, but the icy roads have thawed here.  I erred on the side of caution and hermitted for a few days when it was bad, although neither doc nor hubby issued any warnings. :-P

For the record, I'm jealous of you ladies who have hubbies who have become unnecessarily maternal since your pregnancies.  I think it's rather chivalrous. :)

Maybe you can schedule the next dinner date with friends when able.
    Chivalrous
    1.
(of a man or his behavior) courteous and gallant, esp. toward women.

    synonyms: courteous, gallant, respectful

....ordering someone to stay in when they want to go out...controlling (unless of course the doctor orders)

  • The words "ordered" and "can't" have definite connotations.  This is, indeed, an internet forum and we have nothing to go off of other than the words chosen.

That and "feel like a toddler".

And no, she didn't say husband, but she hasn't answered either.

I would think a post from someone who talked to her husband or partner and he expressed concern and she agreed he was rough and she shouldn't go out wouldn't include the phrase "feeling like a naughty toddler". It'd be more along the lines of "it sucks weather ruins my plans".

  • Sorry about that! My doctor order me to stay off of ice and not to drive. I am 36 weeks and any fall or bump might make me go into labor. Trying to keep her in for another 2 weeks so I was told by my doctor to not go out unless I have to. My husband did agree with this all the way. No he does not control me or "tells" me what to do. He will tell me what he thinks I should do but I don't always listen :) But I know he just cares and plus I am carrying his child so he is going to be a little overprotective of me, it's natural.

  • When the weather gets bad my husband has me stay home from work because he doesn't want me driving on the icy roads. If I wasn't pregnant he wouldn't care as much. I think its sweet that he is looking out for my best interest and doesn't want me traveling in bad weather. I am from Michigan so I am used to the weather it is just all the other crazies on the road he worries about.

  • Crap, if I stayed inside because of the ice and snow this winter, I would have been locked up since November thru my due date in April! Eff that. Walk carefully, wear good boots with traction and drive carefully(as you should anyway!)

    Then we had you.

    Now we are complete.

  • What is with this blind, drone like kowtowing to a "doctor's orders?"  Do we not also have brains and free will and intuition and thoughts, needs, and desires that deserve some consideration?  Perhaps at times, god forbid, leading us to do things that might be against a "doctor's order?"  We're going to be the primary decision maker for a child for the next 18+ years; if you can't make a decision on your own now, based on reliable information, good research, and your own fully functional brain, what will happen when you have the baby?
  • Stuck in the house today too! Sucks!!!
