Icy hot cream

Well you'd think by now I'd inquire before slathering things on but my legs were cramping so bad! I rubbed icy hot all over them and when I felt uncomfortable I looked online about it and pregnancy- mixed reviews. I'm going to call tomorrow and ask but anyone know off the top of their head? Is it safe?

I asked my doc about this in the beginning of my pregnancy because I was using it for neck cramps. She said to stop using it. I bet you'll be ok, but I would discontinue until you confirm w/ your doc!

  • My doctor said it was ok to use on my back. As long as I don't use it on my stomach I was good. I felt uncomfortable, because it was still going into my body regardless where I used it so I only used it a few times. I'm sure you'll be fine
  • I used it once, without thinking, early on in pregnancy. After reading the instructions on the tube and consulting Google, I decided it wasn't worth the risk. Never got my OB's opinion on the matter. I'm sure you're fine, but I would personally stop using it till after you have baby. Not sure if it's safe to use while breastfeeding.

  • Never asked my OB about this, but I use it from time to time on my back.

  • My dr said Bengay was fine and so was a heating pad.

  • Hmm didn't think to ask but I use bio freeze. And I read it as "Hot ice cream" too =P~ I need ice cream now
    :)
  • My Dr. said it's fine in moderation as long as it's not on your belly. I sometimes use it on my hip and back.

  • Thanks ladies! I decided I didn't like it anyway so no need to worry about if I can keep using it. However it did get rid of the leg cramps/ pain if anyone is wondering

  • Sorry - not at all helpful, but I keep seeing the name of this post, and think it says Hot Ice Cream, and I get excited b/c i think its some sort of dessert that I am not yet aware of...

Try Mama Mio peppermint leg cream - Lucky Legs - pricey, but wonderful!  And a little goes a long way
  • The roll on kind is fine in moderation. The concern I've always heard is getting overheated. I used the kind called Stop Pain when pregnant with DS. They sell it at Walmart and it actually comes in a kind that is only cooling.

The icy hit only got cold for me- and by cold I mean miserable freezing my whole body cold- it was wierd
