ds not peeing after circumcision... advice?

Ds had his circ yesterday morning at 6am. He hadn't peed by 11pm and we called the nursery at the hospital. They told us the doctors don't worry until they hit the 24 hr mark. Ds was miserable. The nurse gave us some tips and we got him to pee. He peed so much, poor guy. He still doesn't want to pee and holds it in. Anyone have experience with this? I am waiting for a call back from his pedi.

Was it the baby who got circ'd or your 4 year old? If it is the baby, I'd bring him in ASAP, if it's the 4 year old, I'd be concerned but not as worried.

The baby. I just changed his diaper after typing this and he peed while changing and had some in the diaper. Still want to talk to the doctor though. We didn't go through this with ds 1

I'd call again. Everything I've read said to have baby seen immediately if he wasn't peeing normally within 12 hours after circumcision.

He needs to be seen now.

Penis problems= call the pedi! You don't want your son to have a weirdo penis do you? It will probably put you more at ease as well. Also, pull the skin back and put Vaseline on that bad boy!!!! No one told us to do this so just in case you didn't hear it already DO IT!! ASK ABOUT IT!

@elroda I specifically asked about pulling the skin back and they told me not to. I will add that to my list of questions for Monday morning.

Yes! Thankfully he is. It looks much better today and I have actually rejoiced over getting peed on 3 times today! lol Thank you for asking.

I asked them about this in the hospital, asked the nurse that called today to check on us, and spoke with the doctor that performed the circ. They all said not to pull the skin back. DS has an appointment on Tuesday and the doctor will check it then.

I usually lurk but my DS had the same problem. We put a warm washcloth over the area for a minute or so, and within half an hour he had filled his diaper up. After that he was peeing normally.
