hulk smash

Went to the grocery store. By the end bentley was fussing. Get the the check out and he is screaming and crying. A very nice older gentleman let me go in front of him even though i had more then him.

The lady checking out was slower then molases in january. FINALLY she gets to checking me out. Starts having a conversation with two other people who came in. Then looks at me and is like. Oh your baby is crying.

No freakin shit lady! There isnt anything i can do about it. Hes tired teething, and hungry. I just looked at her like i know.

This was me in that check out line.

  • That irritates me so bad.  My xh used to get embarrassed because more often than not I'd say something.

  • You know it's actually an ingrained social behavior to ignore weird or rude (even dangerous) things that happen and to attempt to "normalize" the situation with your own responses. That's why most of us have a "I should have said/done [this]!" feeling after something wrong happens.

I'm a sociologist (although I don't do anything) and in addition to autism I study symbolic interactionism and social reality.

There are things called breeching experiments where you can test this out. For example, talk to a stranger about something for a few sentences, then say "quack" without breaking tone and keep talking for a couple more sentences. At most the other person may change expression or laugh but more likely they'll pretend nothing happened.

Yes, that is the sort of thing I study. Lol
  • Hmmmm i feel like thats fascinating
