Re: TTC Check-In

• Good morning, everyone!

I am currently 9 dpo and am scheduled for a blood draw on Thursday. We're cautiously optimistic, which we didn't think we would be. We were guarded until my progesterone levels came back last week, and once we were able to verify that I did ovulate, we were a little more hopeful. Despite the late start on the progesterone (CD 5), I did start herbs that mimic progesterone on CD 3.

My chart is the prettiest it has been in over a year of charting. I know that a chart does not guarantee anything, but for someone with PCOS and a normally very erratic chart, it is nice to see. Looking at my patterns, I tend to see a temp drop on CD 10, so tomorrow will be a factor.

Other than my temps, I'm not giving weight to any "symptoms" because I know progesterone side effects mimic pregnancy symptoms. This has actually made the 2ww much more tolerable.

QOTW: DW and I don't necessarily go out to dinner or a movie, but we always get each other something sweet for Valentine's day. Something I always get for her are the Reesee's chocolate hearts...she is a sugar addict. Last year I made her a homemade gift with a deck of cards and a list of 50 reasons why I love her.

TTC our first. Married to, and madly in love with, my beautiful wife. Living with our fur baby and enjoying 19 nieces and nephews.

• Hi Everyone -- (This is basically the same as my TPR checkin)

We triggered last night and are in at the crack of dawn tomorrow for our ER. We are expecting the transfer to be February 9, assuming everything goes well. I'll post an update from the recovery room while H. is still a bit doozy.

We're doing well. H. is pretty uncomfortable these days and super bloated, but she's eating her anti-OHSS diet (mostly gatorade, salt and protein) - so we're doing what we can. I was stupid this morning and took my prenatal well before eating anything, so that plus the estrogen and I'm suffering some pretty intense nausea this morning.

I'm excited to move on to the ER, and scared, and a little bewildered and overwhelmed! I sort of wish I could take all next week off of work to process but I think two days is the most I'll be able to do now.

Our insurance is also giving me a "process" about our med charges now, so I'm stressed and afraid they are going to refuse the $6500 payment. Technically, as of last year, our meds were all covered and there wasn't a max on it --- but that could have changed without warning, so I'm afraid...

Argh. I'm just generally stressed today! That said - I'm following along and hoping everyone is well.

QOTW: My birthday is right before Vday so we don't usually celebrate. H and I aren't big on the Vday customs, and in fact I'm a bit resentful of the day because it was a conflict with bday plans when I was younger... people in relationships never came to my party! This year I think we'll just lay low -- I haven't given it a thought this year at all....

• Hi everyone! I'm currently 3 DPO/IUI and just started my progesterone yesterday. That means I'm back on the crazy train and struggling with an out of control appetite.

The appetite thing isn't too bad though because we're going on a cruise next week and I hear the food is outstanding and endless so... I guess being on progesterone means I'll get to make the most out of my experience, yes? :)

Anyway, no symptoms yet. Just mild cramping - probably from the IUI and sperm swimming around in there. Ick... lol

I'm cautiously optimistic this cycle. I had my HSG earlier in January and everything was clear. RE said a lot of women get pregnant the HSG cycle. I had 3 nice follies and I had my IUI the day after my LH surge. I read a study about more women getting pregnant from IUI based on LH surge than from the trigger shot, which I thought was interesting. I thought the trigger would've been more precise so I was really unhappy that my nurse wouldn't just give me a trigger based on my follie size. But now that I know more about it I guess it may work out for the best this way. I don't know. I wish I could put a little camera next to my ovaries that I could plug in and watch until the egg burst out into my tubes, and the get the IUI. The uncertainty of it all is killing me.

Anyway...

GTKY: C and I believe Valentine's Day is overly commercialized and heteronormative so we don't really celebrate in the traditional sense. We make fun of it and it's great. I'll buy her a bunch of cheesy stuff from the Dollar Store to make her laugh. We went to White Castle one year because they were having a special. They were even serving champagne. It was crazy! They had table cloths, real silverware, candles, soft music, and a photo booth. So much fun :)

I went to Olive Garden to get us some takeout last year because it sounded really good and was saddened to see the huge line and learn that the wait for a table was 1.5 hours. 1) WHY? Why would you wait 1.5 hours for a table at Olive Garden, just to say you did something on Valentine's Day? 2) I got the sense that this was the only night some men would take their wives on a date, and that made me angry. I have friends who are like this and to me it's just not how a relationship should work. You should have a date at least once a month. Why wait until February 14th when everyone else is going out too? 3) This meant I had to stand around with said depressing couples waiting for my order at the takeout station. I never want to be taken on a date out of obligation.

/rant - sorry. I have strong feelings about this, obviously.

• We got our official BFN on Friday about 530pm. Doc said we start the process all over again this week. I'm sure I will go in for my baseline u/s tomorrow. Oh joy. AF is really heavy and a crampy bitch this month.

I've asked for my clomid prescription to be upped. I was at the lowest I think of 50mg.

Needless to say, I had too many drinks this weekend. My body hates me today.

QOTD: I can't stand Valentines Day and the money put forth for it by some people. It also really annoys me that my wife's birthday is on the 12th, so if I want to send her flowers, they are triple the cost than any other time of the year. All for some corporate money grubbing made up "holiday". Sigh. I also think its dumb that so many single people get sad and depressed on this day.
• @goalieswife123, @manada, & @wishiwaspreggo I am crossing everything for you all to get your BFPs this month with as little crazy as possible! I always try to think hopeful thoughts in my TWW to keep me from going off the deep end! Do any of you use guided fertility meditations?

I'm on CD5 and going in on CD12 to check my 4 obnoxious cysts. I'm praying they don't hinder my ovulation. I just know they won't! That said...I have a decent sized credit at the REs office so we are doing an unmedicated IUI before we switch over to at home ICIs which I am researching crazily.

Has anyone had cysts and successfully shrunken them? Gone on to have an IUI cysts and all? Anyone ever done and IUI with no meds?

• @hollynleana I had a few cysts in april of last year and my doc put me on birth control to shrink them. I didn't go back to have them checked, but by the time I started TTC they were all gone. So I am thinking the bc did its job. :)

Thanks to @2mamazinseattle, I just started using Circle + Bloom guided fertility meditations. When I was making my purchase, I was torn between the IVF/IUI program and the PCOS program. In the end, I chose the IVF/IUI program and am thankful for it. It is a wonderful, calming program and I think that it really helps reduce the stress involved with TTC.

Thank you for the well wishes and I wish you luck with your cysts. Although I do have PCOS, I do not have any cysts, so I have no experience with that.

• I'm 12 dpiui today. This past week, I tested with ICs every day from 8 dpiui to 11 dpiui and threw in a FRER on 11 dpiui for good measure. They were all BFNs. I know it's excessive, but I've decided that letting the evidence that it didn't work this month slowly mount is more bearable than letting my hopes get really high and then having them dashed all at once. I had some serious cramps this morning that let me know AF is indeed on her way, so I'm probably done testing for this month, unless AF doesn't show up as scheduled on 2/7.

I'm feeling pretty down in the dumps about it. I always start out the TWW with a healthy amount of skepticism, but then I just get more and more irrationally hopeful with each passing day and bout of "symptoms". This round was both my last chance to have a baby while I'm 28, and my last chance to have my maternity leave be entirely paid (unless it takes over 9 more months to get pregnant).

@HollynLeana I'm doing IUI's with no meds. We're actually going through an AI program at a health center instead of using an RE. I like the idea of not using meds if there's no evidence for any fertility issues, but obviously it hasn't worked yet so I can't really vouch for it.

QOTW: DW and I usually do something small. I don't really do anything, but DW tends to (even if we agreed before hand not to!). We recently started working close to each other, so this year we're going to meet up for lunch at a nice place we needed an excuse to try.

• @Manada gave our update. I'm getting excited! Still fearful that something will go wrong. But we've done all we can do and the RE has done all she can do and now we just have to hope that there are mature eggs in most of the follicles and that they fertilize normally.

I'm bloated (sweat pants only!) and my ovaries after definitely full. They're pushing on my bladder, I'm pretty sure, because I have to pee all the time. I had to get up three times last night to pee!

I'm so glad our retrieval is at 8am. It will suck to get up that early, but it means I don't have hours to get anxious before and it means that when I have to fast after midnight, it won't be too unpleasant!

QOTW: In addition to M's birthday on the 13th, our dating anniversary is on the 20th. So we have plenty to do in Feb without valentine's day, which is good since neither of us has every liked it.
****loss discussed*****

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.

Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.

Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response

IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
1st ultrasound (3/6 6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.

***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***

FET #1 December 2014
Intralipid infusion on Dec 10. Transfer of 1 day 3 nine-cell embryo into my uterus on Dec. 19. (acupuncture immediately before and after)
BFP on Dec. 27; Beta 1 Jan 2 (14dp3dt): 665, Beta 2 Jan 4 (16dp3dt): 1859, Beta 3 Jan 6 (18dp3dt): 4449, Beta 4 Jan 10 (22dp3dt): 12,251.

We got our BFP on a completely natural cycle, that was unmonitored. Obviously, this is just our experience, but thought I would mention. When the RE said we were going to natural cycles, I was like, why don't we just flush the sperm down the toilet... But low and behold it worked.
Obviously, if there are fertility issues the medications can be beneficial. But if they are unnecessary sometimes it is added stress and financial burden.

Baby Hayden Frances born 12/20/14 at 11:11 a.m... Our perfect little miracle. Here's how we got here:

• We are back in the TTC game. After our loss last week we are now waiting for C to miscarry (sounds terrible and is totally heartbreaking). The process has started and we are attempting to do this naturally but it doesn't make it any easier. Hopefully we'll be able to have our next IUI soon...until then, we keep waiting.

As for the QOTD, we answered this last week when we were in the pregnancy thread. We don't do anything for V-day really...just spend our time together which we love to do.
I'm so sorry you are both going through this. I hope that things go as smoothly as they can and you are back in the game soon.

This. Hugs.

• FX for all those in thier tww and hugs to those that need them.

Our update is my SO is moving forward with at least two IUI's. We have two left in storage so we figured we would give those a try before we move to partner IVF. I am feeling a lot better about not carrying right now, but i made sure that I found someone to talk to so i can handle all of the emotions. Wednesday we meet the RE her first appointment, so we are looking forward to that.

QOTD: I'm semi stealing this from last weeks Pregnancy Check In. Valentine's Day will soon be upon us. Do you celebrate? If so, how? If not, please feel free to share why. We usually celebrate with a nice dinner nothing to big. This year I did buy tickets to see John Legend which will be the following day.

Married in September 2010, started TTC journey November 2012

Me-

7 IUI- 2 CP- 2 BFN

RPL blood work 12/27, showed a balance translocation in chromosome 11;22

Spouse-

PCOS 4 IUI-4 BFN

New Plan: Reciprocal IVF, me as carrier wife's eggs. Just went through insurance and received partial approval, so my part will go through my IVF benefits and wife's part will be out of pocket. Now just finalizing finance plans to cover the oop costs. Doctors office is in process of moving to a new building so there are no IVF start ups until March/April 2015.

• @kristi&p - I'm glad that you have been able to make some decisions and move forward. I hope only one IUI is needed.

@manada & @healz413 - this is so exciting! Your time is finally here. I hope it all goes well tomorrow and you get more embies than you know what to do with! I will be looking forward to your update.

@rkbo - Sorry to hear of our BFN.

Good luck to everyone in the TWW! I hope you all have BFPs to report in the very near future. When/if you do, we all fully support creating a new thread to announce :)

We've been working on baby #1 since July 2013 using Open ID donor sperm. 8 IUI attempts with 5 actual IUIs and one chemical pregnancy. We have one fresh IVF cycle under our belts as well as a FET. I have endometriosis and a uterine septum that was corrected via surgery in November 2013.

11/14/14 - Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good.

12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2

12/22/14 - Saline u/s and endometrial scratch (All was clear and OUCH!)

1/2/15 - Began stimming for IVF #2

• Well, Smurf and I are officially waiting until mid-May to start IUI. We have narrowed down our donors to four... if only because there are only 4 donors of Japanese descent available. LOL

We both created spreadsheets to "rank" them. I ordered mine by BMI... she ordered hers by height. It was pretty humourous. I think we have found "the one." Smurf wants to wait to order it sometime in March... I'm a bit antsy because, well, there's only 4 right now, and that could change at any time!!! And not necessarily in our favour!

As for Valentines Day, like @healz413 and @Manada, our dating anniversary is Feb 20th so I tend to focus more on that date, but I will be working out of town by then so I probably should figure something out. Smurf is a total romantic and LOVES Valentine's day, me on the other hand... I worked too many years for Hallmark to really care for it. Needless to say, the first couple years I didn't realise how much it means to Smurf which lead to some hurt feelings. I will probably get some flowers delivered to her at work. :)

• @crazyaunt84 - thanks for the advice on the insurance. I'll check it out next week. We are using a bank. We have a doctor friend who gave us a tip we hadn't heard so hopefully with all the combined knowledge we will strike gold. Who knows. Good luck on your next attempt.
