TTC after 35

annovulatory cycle..is this the beginning of the end?

So, I am DOR but I have "normal" cycles in that I ovulate every month, and it's pretty predictably around CD 12-14.

I am not temping, but getting clear positives OPK's that coincide with EWCM. My LP's have been 13-14 days.

This past cycle, it appears I geared up to O, but didn't. I had an almost positive OPK at CD 13, but no corresponding fertile CM.

On days 18-20 I had left sided pain and lots of EWCM. I was on vacation and did not bring OPK's, so I am not sure, but I guessed I O'ed then.

I am now 14 days past that date, with no AF or feeling like AF is coming. And BFN's.

So, has anyone experienced this? Did your period eventually come, or did you need meds to start it? Or maybe this is how menopause begins?

thanks in advance.

Re: annovulatory cycle..is this the beginning of the end?

  • I am DOR with natural ovulation cycles too....unless you are charting there is no way to tell if you did/did not ovulate.....EWCM while useful as a secondary sign can't really tell you anything nor can ovulation pain.  You could have had an off month and even an annovulatory but really no way to know.  I would suspect you ovulated late.  What is your normal luteal phase?    Most doctors will tell you to keep testing and call them if you are more than 30 days late. ( I know that sounds like a freakin eternity).  They may call you in for bloodwork and if that is clear give you something to jumpstart your period.

This, unless you're temping it's next to impossible to know what is going on.  We can all have wonky cycles now and then, lord knows I've had my share, I wouldn't read into this as the 'beginning of the end' quite yet!  I would, however, encourage you to start temping, it's really the best and only way to get a true picture of what's going on in there, and at our age we don't have time to waste not knowing what's up.

  • I just had a tubal-reversal in November. I am 38, and my husband and I have 4 children that are 18, 17, 16, and 13. We never had any trouble getting pregnant. In fact, we had more trouble not getting pregnant. Lol. This is our 3rd month trying, and I'm not gonna lie, I am a little bit frustrated. I am mostly frustrated with trying to figure out all of this ovulation business. I used a kit last month and found out that I ovulated around the 17th day after I started my period. I was kind of surprised it was so late since I have normal 28 day cycles. This month it appeared that I was about to ovulate (light blue line.) It did this for about 4 days and then completely went away. Does anyone have any idea what this could mean or what I should do?
