Common slee regression??

Hi... Looking for some advice and reassurance!
My LO is 9 months old in a week or so... She's been a pretty good sleeper with one waking at 2am for a feed and then back down until 6 ish. Just over a week ago her sleeping became terrible. She started waking a few hours after i put her down. I tried feeding her to sleep (which is what I do in the evening), Patting her bum, walking with her, cradling her, but if I put her in the cot again she just wakes and cries and is difficult to settle. If she does go back she's awake again in 2 hrs. The only thing that's working is to lay her in bed with us but I don't want her to get used to this because we want to move her to her own room soon. I've heard this is a a common stage for sleep regression... Is that right? Anyone else experienced this?
