February 2014 Moms

Csection Moms

Since some Moms have already welcomed their beautiful babies via csection, I have a couple questions:

How are you feeling?

Is there anything that is essential to bring in your hospital bag?

Did you make it to your scheduled date (if you had a planned csection)?

This will be my first csection, and I'm very curious! I'm scheduled on Feb 18th, and my actual due date is Feb 23. Thanks for the help. I hope everyone has a healthy and safe delivery this month.

Re: Csection Moms

  • I'm feeling better everyday.
In my hospital bag the one thing I could not live without was my pillow.
My c section was going to be on 1/31 but LO decided on 1/22 she was done so I had her emergency c section at 700 pm that night.
The advise I can give you is take the pain meds. The first few days can be bad then it's better each day.

  • I just had my 3rcs and just a few things come to mind, get up as soon as you can... This time I didn't and had severe gas pain! And take as many if the mesh pantys as they will give u, u won't want anything on that incision. Also I took the peri bottle because it was easier to rinse off after going potty and then wipe, it hurt to bend forward for me. Good luck
  • I have an update on previous advice about taking Colace BEFORE the c/s. I asked my doc today and she said her advice has recently changed. Colace is fine to take but she thinks it makes you gassy. Instead, she told me to bring my own miralax to the hospital and take that the day after surgery. I think I like this plan better for me. It tends to take me 7-10 days to poop after surgery and if feel like miralax is probably going to do more than Colace for getting things moving again.

  • I am 1 week out and feeling pretty good.

Definitely bring your own pillow. My own clothes, hair dryer, and make-up helped me feel better too (I'm a big fan of fake it til you make it thinking).

Second stealing as many mesh panties as you can. I had bought Hanes granny panties in a size larger than usual and I still prefer the mesh ones. Does anyone have any recs for post section panties????

I did not make it to my date. First came early at 38 w 5 d, this one was 38 w 1/2 days (water broke at 1, section on 2).

  • Thanks ladies!
  • I'm in day 5 of recovery and honestly it isn't that bad! They had me sitting with my feet on the edge of the best and standing 12hrs after surgery and walking later that night. Walking was only to the restroom of course. I would bring your own pillow, a small one for the ride home and one to sleep on on the bed. I agree 100% on the mesh panties!!
