Has anyone had issues with their video monitor turning itself off of the sound mode and onto the vibrate mode?
We have the vtech one, and twice now my husband has set it by the bed with the sound mode on only to wake up to it vibrating when DS starts to cry. Luckily I heard it the first time but last night I don't know how long he had been crying. My husband said he had just laid down 30 minutes ago so it couldn't have been too long, but I'm so paranoid now.
I don't have the box or receipt so I can't call the company for a replacement..
We bought a vtech one but returned it because the picture quality was such crap so we didn't have it long enough to have any issues with it. Our current Summer Infant monitor crapped out last week and we have to have it replced.
Did you buy it yourselves or was it a gift? I'd call the company anyway and see what they say.
Any chance you bought it online? If so you can probably pull up the record of it and that is your proof of purchase. That's what I just had to do with ours.
I called the company. After I sent them a picture of the receipt (the print out of our order confirmation) they sent me a fedex label to send it back to them and they'll send me a new one.
So this begs the question: @kestock120 and @michelle7482 which Summer Infant monitor do you have? I still want a video monitor and I still have to convince DH. He doesn't like it if the video stays on all the time and if it's too bright for the room. Can you have the audio on with video off but where you can check the video when you want?
We have a Motorola one and you can turn the video off. It has a nice picture and you can add up to 3 additional cameras (I'm guessing that will be nice when we have another child).
I have the summer infant video monitor. I love it. The video can be shut off, I don't think it has a vibrate mode, but there is a bar on the side that stays green when it's on and it has a meter that goes up to red if the baby cries. It can run on batteries, so we can take it with us when we go to friends without having to worry where we will plug it in.

What do you like/not like about it?
We like that you can remotely pan and tilt the camera, you can have up to 4 cameras with it and it will scan between them at 8 second intervals. We had the older version of this one with DS1 and never had any problems with it until my husband broke the plug. So now we have to use batteries for it while we are using it as a backup until they send us a replacement for the broken one. Their customer service has been good and they sent us a prepaid label to send the monitor back and will ship us a replacement. The video part turns off after a minute or two when it's running on batteries and you can turn it off by hitting the button on the top so it's not bright at night. You just click the button if baby is making noise and you want to see what's going on and then turn it back off. Very easy.
