Do you really use your changing pad? A lot of times I see moms with just a blanket laid out so just curious how much they're really used. Yes, I do see moms using them but like I said, not all. Thanks
At home, I always use the changing pad that's on a changing table or dresser. Out and about, I use them until LO outgrows them, then I use a blanket or, in desperate moments, I cover the changing table with paper towels.

Thanks ladies. What about when your out and about and need to use the dirty ones in bathrooms. I feel like a blanket I could wash more than a pad but a pad offers more cushion for little one

We have a changing bag that has a little seperate, small, foldable, thinner, wipe clean change mat. It comes in its own little bag that fits into the change bag. Will be great for using out & about ) We got our change bag in Babyshop. Hope this helps!
With newborns, they poop a lot and it squirts out quickly! The change pad is nice because you can wipe it down easily. By the time the baby's older, I changed on the floor or on the bed if it was just pee.
My diaper bag has a small changing pad in it. I rarely changed her on those changing tables in restrooms; if at all possible I take her out to the car and change her there (on the portable changing pad). Although sometimes you can't avoid the restroom changing tables, yuck.
I used a changing pad on the dresser at home until DS potty trained at 2 years. If he wasn't up high on a smaller surface he would bolt or wiggle like crazy.
When I had DS I originally thought a changing table was an unnecessary purchase. For whatever reason, I ended up buying a fairly inexpensive one at the last minute. One of the best things I purchased! DS is now 23 mths and I still use it every day. So much easier on my body, especially now that I'm pregnant, and it is easier to keep DS contained to one spot while changing.
When we're out, I prefer to change him in the car when I can. But during the winter it is way too cold. Whether it's in the car or public restroom, I use the pad that came with my Kate Spade diaper bag. It's a great size, not overly bulky, and wipes down easily. Hated the diaper bag, love the pad!
We still use a changing pad with DS who is almost 2.5. I actually bought two more so LO has one in his room and I'm making a station in the playroom so we don't have to come upstairs every time. I love the contoured ones. As for the diaper bag I made a travel changing pad with waterproof barrier that can be washed easily. That way in case you have to do it on the sink if they don't have a pull out changer you still have a little cushy barrier.
ha, I still use a changing pad for my 2.5 year old twins to change their clothes! It hurts me SOOOO bad (being PG) to sit on the floor and they are always struggling to get away. If they are on the pad they are at least somewhat contained. I bought another for this baby.
I'm getting my money's worth, LOL!

I carry the travel sized Lysol and spray down the public changing tables then use a mat that I have in a Skip Hop diaper/changing caddy. It zips off and can be washed. But I try to avoid them--they gross me out!

We have a changing pad on top of a dresser that my grandpa put small rails around to make a changing table for my mom. That works fantastic when we are home - my mom even made some waterproof covers for it. When we are on the go, I lay a blanket down in the truck and change her in there. Public changing tables just weird me out.
At home, when DD was tiny, we used the changing pad on top of the dresser. Then we just moved it to a blanket on our couch or on the floor once she was mobile and wouldn't lay still. Also by that point she had kind of stopped with the random accidents when changing her diaper that would have ruined our couch. Out and about, I used a pad on top of the changing station if she needed diaper change. Now, I just change her while she is standing up most of the time.
We have a dresser/changing table combo at home with a changing pad. I have the little skip hop changing pad in my diaper bag for when we are out and about, but also bought some of the disposable munchkin changing pads to throw in my bag, so if I am forced to use the changing station in a public restroom I can just throw the disposable changing pad away. I'm a tad OCD when it comes to public restrooms.
Re: Changing pads..... FTM question
Eta: the when she was bigger we spread a blanket on the floor and changed her there.
