TTC after 35

Getting healthier check-in.

Well ladies how did we do this week.

I think each week we can just share whatever we want about our getting healthier journey.
It can be how much weight you have lost, how many days you were able to excercize or any new recipes you have.
Does this sound good to everyone.

Well here is my week:
Drank tons of water. So much I almost wet my pants at the grocery store.

I did 20 or 25 minutes on the elliptical every day but Tuesday. I skipped that day cause my legs hurt so bad I couldn't get down the stairs. But after that day they have been good.

No dieting for me yet but maybe I will make salad for lunch this week. I don't really eat unhealthy but I am a carbohaulic. So cutting that out of my lunch should help. But we will see if I actually do it.

And I lost almost 2 lbs. it's prob water weight but I'm proud of my 2 lbs.

So ladies tell us how you did so I can cheer you on!!!!!

Re: Getting healthier check-in.

  • I signed in to Myfitnesspal and recalculated my goals. I tracked my calories at least part of a couple of days this week.  I thought about weight loss/getting healthier goals a lot this week--tried to determine my motivation. Getting started for realsies tomorrow morning. . .I hope.

That's a good start to evaluate your weightless goals. I feel like if we just change one thing at a time it won't seem so terrible. It's great that you are keeping track of your calories. Maybe if you cut just a few calories a week it will help.

Good luck if you do start tomorrow.

  • Due to bleeding this week I started today. I ate subway twice with turkey so low in fat and calories. I walked 1 mile and 1/2 hr of yoga..focusing on pelvis and blood flow to uterus. I was doing this when I got pregnant with ds. I think it helped blood flow plus stress. I can't take aspirin but thinking of taking 1/2 of baby aspirin better than nothing :-) oh by the way I love subway:-) haha!

  • @Samuelismomma glad to hear the bleeding stopped.

Woo hoo on walking a mile and the yoga.

My husband loves subway also. When I'm too lazy to make his lunch he gets excited and starts singing the 5 dollar foot long jingle. But he doesn't get anything lo-cal.

  • Thanks for this thread - I'm still new to the board (I've only posted once or twice), but I am going to jump into the fray here!

This week I started keeping track of my eating on MyFitnessPal again (I go in spurts with this, but it seems to be the only way I actually eat better).  I only made it to the gym twice this week - my goal is three times a week, so hopefully next week I will do better.

    Keep it up everybody!

  • I didn't do so well. :-< I ate decentishly (yeah, that's a word. I'm sure of it) until the end of the week. Then, well...I was also VERY sedentary. I need to find a way to work on that that's compatible with winter and with my and my husband's awful schedules.

  • @ewenner I'm jealous that you get to the gym. I would love to be able to go to a gym but my time is limited and I barely can fit in my 25 min in my basement.
But that's great that you normally go 3 times a week. What is MyFitnessPal, just curious if it might help me

  • I watched DH start Atkin's last week. Does that count? Seriously though, I'm on board this week. I'm going to eat oatmeal at breakfast and salad for lunch. Myfitnesspal is an app for iphone or android that tracks what you eat. You can put in recipes or look up calorie counts for so many different foods. You can even scan the barcode on some foods and it pops the nutritional value into your count for the day. It's a great app! I need to get back to doing that!

  • hooligans4, like soontobeshrader says above, MyFitnessPal is an app for tracking what you eat.  There's also a "real" website, that I actually prefer to the app (which sometimes does funny things on my phone).  You can also track your exercise, and see how many calories you burn and how that all balances out with what you eat.  I find it helpful.  And regarding me actually making it to the gym, I suspect that if DH and I are fortunate enough to add a LO in the future, that will get a lot harder...
