So, I haven't tried it yet because I think I won't like it but I am going to try something soon to keep my supply up. I ordered some fennel essential oil that I am going to apply topically to see if it will help increase supply. I have heard of it working, I'll report back when it arrives.
When I'm having supply issue I drink one cup three times a day. It really works well for me! I also eat oatmeal 1/2 an hour before pumping or feeding and that results in a noticeable increase. The taste is not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I was worried it would increase LO gas but I have not noticed a correlation. n Good luck!
I've been drinking it for a few weeks and definitely have seen a difference! I drink it 2-3 times a day most days. I order it off amazon to save money. I also eat lactation cookies daily, yummy! I'm trying to pump an extra bottle a day right now so I'm trying to be good about covering my bases!
It was too strong for me, or I let it steep too long, I was really engorged. Hurt like hell, I have been taking fenugreek twice a day, seems to keep my supply up, and I drink a ton of water.
I drink it most everyday. Just one tea bag, refilled with hot water 2-3 times per day. I think it helps. Sometimes I forget to drink it for a few days and I deft notice the difference the next day I start drinking again.
I drink the tea every morning before work, I think it helps. I've noticed on days I forget to drink it I don't pump as much at work. I don't drink it on the weekends when he's just nursing and I'm not pumping.
I drink it (strong) three times a day. I also take fenugreek three times a day, eat steel-cut oats with flaxseed for every b'fast, drink a beer most evenings, stay well hydrated, and eat lactation cookies regularly. I also rent a hospital-grade breast pump for my pumping at work and feed my little guy every two hours, around the clock. If I skip anything in the regimen, I notice a dip in supply. I've battled low supply from the beginning but have gone from needing 1-2 oz of formula supplement after every feed to rarely feeding him formula (less that 8oz a week). I think the tea is instrumental.
I think it works. I haven't been drinking it lately, but when I did I would just drink a cup or two a day. It's nasty but I just chug it down. I've been taking fenugreek for several weeks and my supply has stayed pretty even.
I make my own by buying bulk herbs- fenugreek, blessed thistle, nettles, red raspberry, goats rue, alfalfa, and fennel. The fennel helps the flavor. Buying in bulk saves me money. I made a tincture from the same blend and take that as well. I make a French press full in the morning and drink it through the day.
I drink it every now and again. Mostly, though, I take the fenugreek capsules 3x a day, eat 2 lactation cookies a day, eat 2 packets of oatmeal every day, and drink a ton of water. With all of that, I have just enough to feed him or skip one feeding and pump basically 1-1 and a half extra ounces. Skip any of that and he cries broken heartedly at my breast. I can't handle that, so yes, I believe I have a lower supply and I know my let downs are slow. He screams at the bottle, with or without breast milk for the first few minutes, every time, so I've ruled out nipple confusion. His preference is definitely me, and I do everything I can to keep up.
do this many people REALLY truly have supply issues?
I definitely do. We got off to a bad start with latch issues and pedi pushing me to supplement, which I think hindered my supply. Plus, I have a crazy MIL who caused major drama in the first few days after my LO was born. I feel strongly that the stress played a part. BF'ing is so important to me so I've made it my No. 1 priority to overcome a low supply. If we're lucky enough to have another baby (I'm 36 and have already had one miscarriage) I'm shutting out any negative forces in my life when trying to establish the BF bond in the first few days.
Hmm. You girls are making me want to give it another try. I tried it once. I think I had 2 cups of the tea and 1 fenugreek. I didn't mind the taste. However, it made me stink so bad. It was gross. Even DD refused my milk at first, which she never did before or after that. I stopped immediately. Did anyone have the maple syrup odor issue? Does it go away?

do this many people REALLY truly have supply issues?
No, but I'm obsessed/addicted to #makingallthemilk. I'm nursing my toddler and my baby right now and pumping for a third. Someone else in my local moms group is also looking for more milk...considering trying to increase my supply to pump for a fourth.
When I remember, I drink it a couple times a day. When I was on maternity leave, I would drink it 2-4x a day. It seemed to help with maximizing my low supply. I actually don't mind the taste... kinda like it.
