  I don't have experience with either pail, but I have the diaper genie. Target sells generic refill rings and they are about $5 a piece, and I buy maybe one to two a month. To me the cost is worth not having to walk each diaper outside or smelling dirty diapers in the nursery. Good luck!

  I think every diaper pail is going to stink no matter what the manufacturer claims. I debated between the Ubbi and a diaper genie for cost effectiveness, so I put both on the registry and decided whatever one was bought for us first is the one we're going to have. We got the Ubbi, so hopefully it lives up to its claims.

  I haven't actually used it yet, but I picked the Ubbi based on smell reviews (yes, of course every diaper pail is going to smell somewhat!) but the main selling point for me was b/c you can use regular kitchen trash bags! In fact, based on what I can tell so far, not only just the small plastic grocery bag, but actually ANY plastic bag, like even the thicker plastic ones that have a narrower opening and wouldn't stretch to fit a regular steel trash can that is designed for plastic grocery bags. I can see how maybe the top would be too small for a really big full diaper, but FTM here and I'm not sure how often or when that happens. (I guess if I had a diaper THAT big and full I'd probably want to take it out directly to the garage trash! yuck, lol!)

  We used a regular metal pail, it worked just fine. The only reason I would consider a diaper pail was if my pets were good at getting in to things like that.

  We have the Diaper Champ.  We used it with our twins in 2009 and it still works so we're using it again!  It uses regular trash bags.  We kept it in the nursery and it was never broken into by our dog who loved a good diaper (ewe, I know…FX hopefully he'll be over it this time around).  We kept a metal one with a lid in our other diaper changing spot.  He broke into that one easily.  Any diaper pail is going to stink, but we found that putting the little Arm and Hammer disks on the inside helped a lot.

  We just bought a Diaper Champ this weekend. We've had the Arm & Hammer diaper pails for 18 months, and they don't stink but are annoying to open. So far, we love the Diaper Champ and love that it uses kitchen garbage bags. We use scented bags anyway so we feel pretty good that that along with baking soda inserts should kill any smells. Also we change the bags twice a week minimum.

  is Simple Human 40L, lid locks, has the foot push pedal for when unlocked and takes the same kitchen trash bags as the other cans. We change the bag about once per week and does a decent job containing 95% of the smell. No pets here however my friend who reccomended it has 2 dogs.

  I've experienced that diaper pails are so gross to change, so we keep a bio bag on a hook at the foot of the changing table that we can use for a few change. If it fills up and we aren't able to toss it in the garbage, we have a vintage looking pail to put it in next to the changing table. No smell and no mess.
