Stitch a hole in pocket diaper?

Hi ladies. I post elsewhere on the bump, but haven't posted here before. I have a hole in 2 of my BG pocket diapers. They are past warranty stage. Can I just stitch the hole closed or will that just make it leak? Obviously it will leak anyway with the current hole.

ETA: I tried googling and searching this board without luck. Maybe it's because I'm mobile? Sorry if this was asked recently!

  • more stitches would cause leaks, I think.  but i'm not sure how to fix it

  • Can you get a small piece of PUL and sew it over the hole to cover it, like a patch?  I have no idea if it would work or not... just an idea...

  • Yikes - that might be beyond repair.

If you try to make the fix, though, make sure you a) mend the outer PUL and inner suedecloth separately and b) use polyester (not poly-cotton) thread. Guterman is a popular polyester thread.

  • Worst case scenario if you patch it and it leaks, which I think is probably likely, you can use it as a swim diaper.

That's what I would try.  And then put it in the dryer to seal the new PUL.
  • Great ideas! Thanks!
