Can't sleep need advice

I lay on my back most of the night and my spine is just killing me in the mornings. I try laying on my sides but it hurts. I just toss and turn all night and can't get comfy. What should I buy?

Re: Can't sleep need advice

  • I sleep on my sides, and usually hug one pillow and have one in between my legs.  I never bought a pregnancy pillow last time around, though I see the appeal.  Rearranging 3 pillows with every wake up got kind of annoying, but whatever.  Too cheap to buy one.   ;)

  • I ended up with a body pillow. And should probably actually use it. I'm not used to sleeping on my side and my bottom arm ends up falling asleep. I went out and got a new head pillow that is made for side sleepers too.
  • With DD I used two body pillows and I took up most of the bed but I had to do it or I woke up and couldn't move.  With DS and this one (so far) I just use the one body pillow and either stick it under my hips to sleep on my back or "snuggle" with it on my side.  I bought them at Wal-Mart and made sure they were firm in case I got a little chubby lol.  I think I spent $20 with the pillows on sale.

  • I just ordered a leachco pregnancy pillow. I don't have it yet but I'm definatly feeling the same way about sleep. I sleep on my sides normally but right now I prefer my back (midwife said sleeping on my back was fine, until about seven months) or my stomach. With my first I slept on my stomach the whole time. I'm not sure how safe I think that is for baby, so I'm trying not to this time.
  • I so bought a snoogle and I'm proud of it. It does actually help, at least for me :)
  • Last pregnancy I had a cheap body pillow and it worked just fine. DH works at a mattress store though so he randomly brought me home a wedge pillow that's the length of a body pillow & it's made out of foam. Best thing ever! I like how the wedge works nice for wedging under the belly.

Honestly I don't think the type of pillow matters too much, and I wouldn't spend a fortune, but get some pillow to put under/around belly and/or knees. Basically to spoon in anyway that's comfy.

  • Target has a great body pillow that's 10 bucks, and it's made a huge difference for me.

  • Thank you guys so much I will definitely pick up a body pillow tomorrow. I appreciate it, only 4.5 months so I can only imagine how much more uncomfortable it will get
  • @allardr what brand is the wedge pillow? I wedge my pillows under my stomach any way so a wedge pillow sounds heavenly!
  • Pup4gb, amen on my arm falling asleep! I tried to explain to my husband how frustrating it was and all I got was a blank "wtf?" stare! So nice to have someone understand!

My king size pillow works for me for the time being but I'm short (5'2") and it may not work for taller mommies. I hug it, it supports my belly and fits between my knees. Once I hit that pillow I'm out.
    Edited because I can't type.
