Failed one hour GTT

So, I failed the one hour GTT today with a whopping 184. There is a history of diabetes in my family so I was nervous about this test anyways. I have to do the 3 hour next week but I assume I will fail that too.
For those of you diagnosed with GD, how difficult is it to manage with diet? I don't think my diet is all that bad to begin with! I am already worried about my umbilical cord issue (2 artery instead of 3) and I have no idea how this will complicate things further.... Ugh!
Sorry- had to vent. Any advice is appreciated

i wouldn't worry about it JUST yet.

i've heard numerous people fail the 1 hour and pass the 3 hour with flying colors and 184 honesty isn't too bad!

my SIL had GD. it just required frequent blood sugar checks, insulin as needed (super small needles compared to what you might have already had with PIO!), and maybe more frequent US.

I failed my 1 hr last week (148 I think), then went and passed the 3 hr with plenty of room to spare. Try not to worry too much yet until they retest you

I failed my 1 hour too, I found out today. I had 138 they wanted 130. Rawr. I also have a single umbilical artery. I'm hoping it all sorts it self out. Good luck!!

Hi due date buddy.... No advice here, just wanted to give you some hope. I failed the 1-hour with DS and went on to pass the three hour. With this LO, I failed the 1-hour again, with a 172. I had been careful to not anything sweet that morning either. So I was sure I would fail the 3-hour. Not only did I pass the 3-hour, but my numbers were totally in the middle of the normal range. I was happily surprised. I hope you end up passing too!

@tryingyetagain thanks due date buddy! That does give me hope! I actually didn't eat at all before the one hour because I woke up late and was in a rush to get out the door. I don't know if that helped or hurt my numbers or had no affect!

I don't have any advice, but just wanted to say good luck! GD is a fear of mine, too. I already got tested once at 18 weeks because they're really worried about me getting it, my 1 hour was 90 and they want anything below 140, so I'm still good to go. FX that your 3 hour goes well!!

thecuddleeffect omg that's so annoying! My m/w looks for 140 and below so I'm sure you'll be fine! Can you decline the 3 hour? I just feel like you're so on the cusp that I would almost fight it, but that's me and I want nothing to do with more needles and checking my insulin.

I failed my 1 hour as well ( 165, I believe), but passed my 3 hour just fine. I heard a statistic that more than half of those who fail with one hour will do fine with the 3 hour. HOpe you are one of them, too!
