Fake cough?

So.. A few days ago LO started coughing and I looked over concerned and here he was laughing.. Honestly it sounded fake. Anyhow, fast forward a week and he's still doing it. It's like a dry cough.. But he has no other symptoms... Anyone else's LO figure out they can cough and are just doing it for fun? Or BTDT moms.. How did you know to be concerned?

I remember DD1 going through a fake coughing stage. DD2 currently growls.

If there's no fever, stridor or whooping it probably isn't anything to worry about.

L does this all of the time! It cracks me up. I'm like, I'm looking right at you. You look perfectly fine. It sounds fake as hell. I really would hope it's just a fluke. :-/

We have a fake cougher over here. I think she's just figured out she can make that sound and does it over and over.

Yes LO started fake coughing because I had a mild cough for a few days. Honestly I think he is just really excited to mimic a sound mommy was making because he would smile and laugh about it

Faker here too. Although lately she's had some legit sinus drainage so it's become very easy for DH & I to tell the real from the fake.

Never thought it was fake, my LO has been doing it too, I figured he was learning to swallow his saliva and that's why he was coughing

I thought LO had a "fake cough" also. The ped suggested that it was probably dryness and to put the humidifier at the top of his bed at night and next to him During the day while he played. It has since subsided. It may have seemed like a fake (his honestly sounded completely fake) cough but it could have gotten a lot worse if we didn't do something to help it a bit. To be safe you could give it a try.

He went through this about a month ago. He would do it all the time once he figured out how to do it. So weird. Once I fake coughed at him and he cried. Whoops.
